150W HPS is about 16000 lumens.

But the lumens spec (for ANY bulb) is rated at a distance. an HPS or mH is HOT. so gotta back them off some (losing lumens) CFLs need to be backed off a LOT less, but produces less lumens.

You do the math with electricity consumed and decide whats best for your application.

What if you were running 400,000 lumens within the 500 - 600nm range? Would that be of any use to speak of? Or what if you were running 100,000 lumnens in the 370-400nm and 600 - 700nm range, which do you think would do better? Do lumens actually matter to a plant??? Just a thought people. Lumens are for humans, and a watt is for pot.

marijuana will thrive under at least 10k lumens per foot on the plants. anything less and it wont be optimal, anything more and youll get yourself some serious buds but have to watch your heat!
10k is usually just a good number to go by i feel though. More importantly is getting light to all of your plant. If you have a really bushy full bred indica or something weather you have 10k or 50k lumens on your plants, only those top colas and buds get that light because the rest is shaded. for this reason alot of growers put in secondairy lights that hang below the level of the top colas to provide light to the undergrowth and stimulate bud production to areas otherwise that would produce just popcorn
