nah... you can get ATLEAST 4-5 in there easy... and I THINK its the other way around, HPS for veg and MH for flowering

well you could fill the space and use 3 of those lamps.. 4 if you really wanted.. in that space i wolud put 6 maybe plants in there with those lamps.. you could have better bud if you have extra light.. usually a 600watt fills a 3x3 space the best but you could make it work.. depending on how big pots are in height and width will determine how many plants you can really fit.. they need a little bit of space between pots to grow outwards.. i would use 6 plants because you have 3ft to space out the other pots... depending on how tall the pots that you use are will determine how long to veg and how tall to start flower also.. but i usually keep my lights about 6" away from the ceiling at all times... for safety... if you have any other questions just ask.. and NO it's HPS for flowering and MH for veg... MH has a blue spectrum which helps the plant in veg by using the blue spectrum it encourages leaf and plant growth... HPS has a red spectrum for flowering because it helps fruit and flower growth (Bud)... also by using both blue and red spectrums during flower you utilize both= red and blue light for more healthy growth.. but if you could only use MH or HPS at the one time.. use MH for veg and HPS for flower...

I would say 4 plants, that's about the size of my grow space and I do 3-4 in flower.

Also there's a pretty good link stickied about lighting and canopies that might help you out here.

yeah.. 2 MH for veg... and then 1MH and 2HPS for flowering.. you will get 6 plants in there and give them some room to bush out..
