How much light and vent? 6.5 X 4 X 8 grow tent.

Hi RIU, How much wattage you think I can get in a 6.5 X 4 X 8 grow tent? I was thinking maybe 3 600's but realistically I reckon only 2. How much vent would I need for that? Cooled hoods or no cooled hoods?

2 600's can be exhausted by one 6" can fan or similar. I like the can fan because of its low amperage. As for filtering you will need a second 6" fan.

L x w x h = 208 / 3 = 70 cfm minimum. So I'd go with the can 33 filter or grab the can lite 6" and you should be gtg.

Remember. Lights need their own 6" exhaust fan and you need another fan to exhaust the grow room itself. Ideally connected to a carbon filter. I have a similar thing going on and everything is controlled by those two exhaust fans.

Next you you need a controller. You can go as simple as a temp and humidity controller for under $100 which will only turn your fans on when needed. This saves energy and takes the guesswork out of the system. You wouldn't need the fans running 24/7.

Could I have just one exhaust? Eg carbon filter - 440cfm - ducting - hood - ducting - hood - outside the tent? Or is it a must to have two ? Kind regards.

Oh yeah. You can just have one exhaust fan if you like. As long as it can keep the temps within your set parameters it's all good. Even if the fan does have to work 24/7 they are rated to handle that.

Make sure though to invest in a simple controller because otherwise you are going to be checking the tent constantly trying to dial it in.

Trust me I have tried using fans on timers and also just running 24/7 and it's a pain.

I think you could even get a temp only controller from CAP for less than $50

The two fan scenario is crucial if you plan to add additional co2 into the mix. The reason being that you can run your air cooled hoods while the co2 is being dispersed and your fan is not sucking the co2 directly out of the room.

There are a million different scenarios on how to do things, but the cheapest will be:

hang your filter inside the tent and run ducting from the filter into the cooled hoods and have your exhaust fan at the opposite end pulling air out of the tent.

The vortex may be the fan that you might want to go with. I used to have one and loved it.

I just built the same setup I used 2 600s a 6" to cool the lights and a 8" fan and filter for exhaust and temps are perfect. I would always get a bigger fan than needed and get a speed controller to turn it down. I may be cold out now but come summer time you will wish you got something a little bigger.
