How much light to keep a mom alive?

Any idea how much light, minimum, is needed to keep a mother alive? I'm planning on using CFLs for the mom, HPS for the flowering. I was just wondering, for planning purposes, how many watts would be the min?

You could easily keep her alive with a single cfl. Just make sure it will kick out enough lumens. Watts measure power usage not light output.

That is enough to keep it alive, but it will slow growth compared to a HPS. Also, make sure you have reflector to maximize the light.

actually there was someone who tested cfl's, floros and hps all at the same time and the cfl and hps were quite simular in vegging

i have 2 of those 1600 lumen cfls for my moms/clones, it works fine...i put some mylar behind them and that helps alot, my mom is prolly ready to give 3-5 clones in 2 weeks or so
