How Much Yield is Possible with My Setup?

Hi all,

I am just wondering how much I will yield aprox with my current grow. I am growing in an htg grow tent that is 6.5 feet tall, 3.5 feet wide and 3.5 feet long. I am using a 400W HPS for flowering. I am vegging under florecent lights in a different tent till the plants are aprox 12 inches tall. I am currently growing 8 white widows in soil. How much could I potentially yield with my setup if I end up with 6 or 7 females? (I purchased feminized seeds from Nirvavna so I will hopefully have a few at least).

I am going to put as many plants as I can in the tent that are females as I am just looking to get as much yield as possible.

you will prolly get between 4-6 ounce because it sounds like this is your first grow. however many people can grow a gram per watt so try to shoot for that. But like i said your looking at about 4-6 ounces but i dont think you will get more than that

8 plants under a 400 watter?

Dude, get real.. Thats way too many..

With the strain your growing, you'd be lucky to get 4 plants that will grow ok with that kind of wattage.

Why do alot of newbies, or inexperienced growers try to cram a shit load of plants under one light and expect more?

It crowds them which will give you lower yields, and a 400 watter is not designed to light up 8 plants.

You might get away with it if you had a light mover. But, other than that.

Plain and simple.

Unexplained mysteries. :wall:

Looks like I have 4 too many plants then. Should I just throw them out, or at least attempt to put them in the tent? My only other option would be keep four of them in the smaller veg tent and try to flower them under the florecents.

def dont throw em out bro!! i would throw 4 under the 400, and then the other 4, veg em under cfl's for a longg time until ur others are done flowering and then throw the next 4 in to flower.

p.s. if u do this, it will give your 4 plants a lot of time to get hugeeee, which will lead to your heavy yield that u will not get if u try to stick 8 in there at once.. thats my 2 cents anways..:bigjoint: good luck man!

Just about the max yield you'll get from that light is 400 grams. Now you'll need to decide what size, feeding schedule and training allows you to come close to 400 grams (1 gram per watt).

i dunno bout the not being able to pull weight of a 400hps theres been a few threads with less watts n decent yeilds???

I'd try to get a couple florescents in there with the hps. just my 2 cents though. I also have 6 plants in a 4'x4' room and they are crowded, but I think that was almost the right amount.

According to your first post, the tent is 3.5' x 3.5'.

This is about the maximum area a 400 watt light can cover. Even so, that area could easily handle 1000 watts.

Most indoor growers with average skills get about .5 gram per watt. The best indoor grower I know, using Sea Of Green, gets about 1.2 grams per watt. This guy is a serious commercial grower who has no fear of spending money to optimize yield, and quality.

I'd use all eight plants, spacing them, and spreading their branches to make a complete canopy(no light passes through the leaves, reaching the ground).

Put the plants in three gallon, or bigger pots, and let them veg in the tent, under the HPS until, with branches spread, the canopy is 80% complete. Continue to spread branches through the first few weeks of blooming to fill in any gaps in the vegetation.

If you water and feed regularly, according to directions, I'm betting you'll get 300 grams on your first try.

I tried doing 8 plants under 250w in 3'x3'x3', it was my second grow and still learning a lot! I only grew in 1.5gl pots which was a mistake and vegged for a month ended up with 6 females and a total of 4 ounces. Check out my blueberry grow to see what I mean. Trust me you will learn soooo much from your first grow and so on. Good luck dude!
