How often do you need to change the water in resivior?

Hey,

I will be growing two Aurora Indica plants via DWC. What I want to know is how often do I have to change the water? I am using NO NUTES at all, so do I still have to change it?

No nutes eh??? Well.....yea i guess i would still change it.i change my dwc res every 7-10 days.i would probaly still do the same no matter what.better safe than sorry. Ya kno?

5-7 days to rid stagnant or algae like water. the longer your res goes the more bacteria can form.

Btw good choice on strain. Im smoken some aurora right now w/ my wife.not bad.

why no nutes??

no nutes in a dwc is going to leave you sickly yellow plants that dont produce much worth smoking.. its better than moron noobs and their miracle grow but a plants gotta eat.. could you survive on just water?

I have not changed my water at all since the start. I have not seen any harm from it. I do flush about ever 2 weeks by letting the res get low and filling with just water for a few days. i don't know it seems to work for me.

How would I change the water? Like how do I change the water in the resivior? Im doing a PC Grow and I think it would be hard because I'm LST'ing with a fence, and to maligant, your saying I NEED nutes?

Plants receive oxygen and hydrogen from water and carbon from air. While there are another 17 essential nutrients plants consume. Even mineral water with minute traces of calcium and magnesium would not be enough to flower a plants.... It would almost be a magic trick to grow in a water only reservoir, even if it was foliar fed all though flowering.

I dont change the res at all during a grow, just top up with water and nutes. Im not sure if you will get a decent grow at all with no nutes, there just isnt enough minerals in water to grow a plant healthily to the end. Usually when a plant is in dwc after about 2-3 weeks of veg in just water it will start to show yellowing and it will just get worse if you dont feed it, it also slows down growth with no nutes, your plant may never finish.

yes dude im saying you NEED nutes, if you dont use them your just wasting your time and starving/torturing an innocent plant. its cruel

I have been having to change the res on my big boys every 2 days, but its about 6 foot tall, and it drinks quite a bit, i just changed it to bloom cycle, 12/12 and im getting yellowing with purple stems, any ideas?

PH issues? is your PPM rising or geting lower each time you check it?

Corpse I've seen your posts detailing the issues you've been having with your girls, and aside from the heat getting to water in the buckets, I think another problem you have is growing plants way too big for those puny 5gal buckets.

If they were recirculated between each other with a large control res to up your water volume by at least double or triple, I think you'd be doing a lot better. If you really wanna stick with single buckets non recirculated then you're gonna need some 10-20 gallon containers.

When your plants are so big they drink nearly all the water available to them in a day, weird things happen as the res becomes depleted. Plants might take all the water but not all of the nutes, leaving a very high PPM mixture to burn your plant. PH will also fluctuate like crazy with big plants and such a small res.

It's like trying to keep 20 gold fish in a tiny little bowl, that water is gonna turn disgusting fast, and your fish are gonna die. You need more water volume to support them, either with a bigger container, or adding more water volume by means of a remote res and recirculating it.
