How often should i water my seedlings?

Water once when initially planting the seed....good amount of water (not floating). In 2 days it should be dry enough to simply mist the top layer of soil 2 times a day til they sprout.
Then yes as others said....when they are sprouts try to dry em out a little to promote root urge.

When you say water are you talking about until you see it drain at the bottom (im baked sorry)

Or are you saying few inches of the soil to be real moist and then plant.

I was thinking getting all the soil pretty moist. Mix it around..if you get my drift.

Depending on the mediums used for growing your seedlings in would determine watering times. Such as medium that drains well will dry out quicker then mediums that don't drain as well. I usually just go by how light the cup feels and what I mean by that is that after water you can feel the heavyness of the pot, well when the cup gets lighter you know its time to water. Usually it is every other day but some seedlings take off quicker then other so some do get water everyday. But its hard to tell people to water their plants the same cuz all don't drink or drain as fast as others.

This keeps bugs off and they wont mess with your grow. Never spray in the sunlight and use 1 tbsp per gallon of water, use Ivory if possible. Ivory doesn't have all the trash that most makers put into their soap.

When you first plant the seedlings the mediem needs to be fairly moist, then when the soil surface begins to dry spray it until surface is wet.

Wow you really don't want to use a windex bottle, i tried using a 409 and a fabreeze one time. My plant def stoped growing and lost it's fresh green color. Using chemical spray bottles in place of water bottles is bad. You can poisen your plants, and prob your self when you smoke it HA. justa thought. I bought one from Wal -mart with tax for $1.35

when the top of the soil looks dry. stick your finger into the soil and at your first knuckle you should be able to tell if the soil is dry or moist!

just transplanted my first seedling from the germination stage. watered it in, and its got its false leafs already, didnt expect it to grow that fast. thanks for the help rollitup.

Misting is excellent for when the seedlings are very young and still trying to shed their shells, however when the plant has produced its cotyledon leaves it is able to begin photosynthesis and misting is no longer effective. You want the plant to obtain most of its water via the root system, misting your plants has been said to lead to poor root growth. I grow my plants in soil and when I water them I use a shot glass and make sure not to pour directly on the leaves or the base of the stem, but pour evenly around the edge of my peat cup allowing it to drain more evenly and give the outer (younger) roots water.

I was watering my seedlings like twice a day after germination because I thought soil was getting dry not knowing biobizz all mix actually holds water pretty well. luckily they survied. Now i wait 2-3 days to water and they do seem happier.

A little bit of soap is good for plants if ur growing organic and have a pest issue, i once had spider mites on an indoor grow from letting my plant soak up the beautiful sunrays outside for a few hours, and sprayed my plant ever so often with a little bit of soap water, didnt get rid of the mites but definitely helped out.

Water every time the soil looks and feels dry. Never water soil that is already moist.

I have some seedlings going no for 6 days and the soil is still moist should I still water? Since its been 6 days

When it comes to wet/dry cycle alot has to do with the soil and environment used (lights/ventilation/temps/rh ect).

I start my sprouts in an 80% rh room in 1 gallon soil pots. I water 3-5 times before i need to upot into a 3 gallon by day 24/25. The high humidity really seems to speed things up and allows a longer semi-dry soil cycle for quicker root growth. Just water when dry before or during the wilt. Do not under-water seedlings, its a hard thing to do but it can happen especially with heavy soil
