Most aerogardens have a tab on the top of the light so that you can remove it from the arm that usually holds it. If you get a figure 8 cord (cheap on Ebay, available at radio shack, etc) you can then plug the light in. It's easiest to hook this plug into a timer to keep your plants on a normal light schedule.I just bought the aerogarden and didn't do much research before hand but, I notice it only goes 24 inches (2 feet) high and I don't think thats going to be enough space for my plants. Does anyone know how to make it talller?
thanks.

You can hang most aerogarden light hoods from a chain. I find that most 3/4" s hooks will fit securely under the outermost plastic layer of the aerogarden light hood--you can then hang it on chains and your problem is solved. Add some side CFLs when the plants get bushy and you're good to go.
