How To Spot A Liberal....

Well to be fair, there are a ton of differences between WW2 and present day.

I'd agree to an extent that the responsibility of the conflicts, which you are against, lies with the soldiers. You can't simply dismiss that and say they're clear because they're doing a service to their country. Everyone in this position is going to feel justified, regardless of the motivations, by simply saying they are not responsible and the burden is on the leader. If not for the soldier, there would not be a battle.

They do shit I'd never do, most of them actually believe it's for some greater good, the soldiers motivation is not what's in question, they all support America I'm sure, otherwise they wouldn't be in the military. The thing about that is that the motivations and conflicts of interest present in todays military industrial complex introduce an entirely new aspect to the game. Where it doesn't matter anymore if your justified, just so long as your following orders and fighting 'terrorism' or 'communism' or 'socialism'... or whatever other label they give to invisible enemies that cannot be defeated via conventional warfare and will never quit no matter how many billions of dollars we spend and no matter how many great young men and women give their lives in a false belief that some day it'll end, and justice will win.

None of them question the authority, I know how the mindframe of a fresh young recruit is, I used to be one. I've been in more than a few recruiters offices soaking up all the great things and new opportunities. I never signed on the dotted line because I didn't want to kill innocent people. Those that do either don't think about it, or it doesn't matter to them the way it did to me, I'd suspect the former, but I've met a few who represent the latter to a T. Can you blame them for it? ...I can.

I'm sorry man, it's not unpatriotic to call out criminal action or illegal behavior, especially on the battlefield. It doesn't weaken our intel or our defense, it promotes democracy and justice, and shows leadership.
Exaclty we wouldnt be a nation of death and distruction if our own people would just stop the distruction and demand sound money and a world worth living in.

It shouldnt matter how it happens what peices of papper are "violated".

The constitution is only valid to most of the people that support it when its in their favor anyways. If the constitution is agianst what they say then they will reinturpret it to say what they want.

Just like the bibble or anything else.

And by the way I am a liberal and Obama is NOT a liberal if he was we wouldnt have a death penalty, drug war, shitty economy because republicates do more evil then ANY liberal would do.

One thing that a liberal would do that alot of you right wingers dont dig is the full on ban of assault weapons, black rifles(ar15, ak7,keltechs,mini14) and handguns that carry over 15 rounds.

Go ahead and tell me how stupid I am but im not saying we should ban all guns just the ones that if you did use for homedefence you could kill the children next door not just the intruder.

No need to bust out a assault rifle on a home intruder so their is no point in owning a rifle like that and say its for self defence when you could kill inocent people in the proccess of protecting yourself.

Yes, this is a good understanding of the modern day liberal, post Vietnam. Liberals used to be something quite different and actually helpful....... no longer. That's a shame too.

making themselves and government in general an indispensable part of our everyday lives, i'd have thought that was rather obvious. the liberal agenda is the quintessential representation of all that is worst in government, hidden behind a mask of compassion and the lie that government should provide all for the people. its roots lie deep in the condescension of a ruling elite determined to force their vision of the perfect future on the ignorant masses and the delusion that the ballot box somehow gives the people power over their corrupt representatives. it plays on our greed and fear of failure, giving us scapegoats to blame for its own missteps and promising the illusions of comfort and security for those willing to give up just a little, then a little more and a little more, of their self-determination.

the term liberal has been warped to feed the demands of a totalitarianism where the state assumes the responsibility for the welfare of the people and reaps the rewards for their labor. the socialist decline of western civilization only reflects the apathy of its people and their unwillingness to see the necessity of sacrifice. believing the lies told by the liberal establishment, that capitalism leads only to the enslavement of the proletariat and that government is capable of or even wishes to establish a lasting balance of wealth, the people have allowed their own sloth and desire for the material to trick them into handing over what power they had within the marketplace to a bureaucracy intent only on its own well-being. to government, the people are only a means to securing its own power.

we seem to fail to understand the difference between liberalism within the individual and the liberalism of their government. the charitable intentions of the individual do not translate well into the political arena, where only the appearance of success is needed for survival and even a temporary setback can spell the end of a career. an overabundance of generosity in the individual means only personal loss. that same excess in government steals the wealth of entire segments of the population, removing much of it to pay for the bureaucracy needed to administer their programs and the rest to be funneled into whatever scheme they see fit to forward to give themselves the appearance of seeing to the people's welfare.

You are at a cocktail party and you meet someone new. Of course the convo leads all over, but in the end politics will be discussed.

So is the person you are talking to a Liberal, or not? Now in these changing days of events and topics, it can be difficult to spot them right off. Like flotsam and jetsom, liberals have no true base of principles and tend to drift from week to week, so this has an expiration date on it, but right now...if in conversation you hear anyone utter any of these things with actual seriousness...you know they are Liberal.

1.) That a government-run "public option" health insurance would not extinguish or even harm private insurance.
I think the owners of Fedex and UPS would disagree with you when it comes to "federal programs hurting their business".

If you can't compete with the welfare tit, then you shouldn't be in business.

I agree with you on the rest. It is silly.

Lets go back to the root of this thread. How do YOU spot a liberal or conservative?
You dont.

Left wing, right wing, same bird.

If you tow the lines of either of the parties in this TWO party system which has had a monopoly on the united states of america, then you're a good sheep.

A few points.... delivery of mail is a far cry form taking over your personal medical choices.

This health scheme is not simply "another option".... everyone must pay, regardless of usage. Imagine having to kick in for everyone else's mail delivery and you don't get any yourself.

The post office example shows EXACTLY why the govt. shouldn't be in business at all. There is no doubt in my mind that if the Post Office system were scrapped and a private system were put in place, prices would drop and delivery would increase. A postage stamp corrected for inflation should be 30cents, it's 44 because of who runs it.... govt. By the way, mail used to be delivered TWICE a day, now it's once.... what's that word again.... rationing...yah.

Why go backwards with something as important as your health??

The two ideologies, liberal and conservative are NOT the same and perhaps is the most insulting swing at conservatism I have witnessed on these threads.... TAKE THAT BACK!!!! TAKE IT BACK....PLEASE!!

You see they are the same. Independent people dont pay taxes because they are Independent they dont want the government or need it they teach their own kids and have money saved up by the end of their life to either retire or keep working because thats life.

You Repulicans pay taxes and support the welfare state you say you hate but yet beg for it at the end of your life when your old and broke.

You are the same you dont want socialised medicine but you will want medicare and S.S. and will bitch about how much a socialist country we are while claiming all of the above.

I dont want the govenrment dont need them want pay them. I have the right to bitch because I DONT pay taxes and im be FORCED into YOUR ideolgy.

You pay for whats coming and admited to it all of the republican right wingers came in here saying "Oh I pay taxes, but fuck socialism"..........................You dont see the hypocrisy?

you need to go back to school. Please don't tell me what I want.

All of those programs were put into place by Democratic Congresses. Do you know your own history? The republicans have had the majority in Congress on only RARE occasions.

All of those programs PROMISED to be self running and fiscally responsible.... every promise HAS BEEN BROKEN.

Again, if you think the Govt. knows how to run ANY business well, you need to go back to school.

Yeah because private insurance companies just cover everything. They NEVER tell you what you can and cannot receive. Esentially taking over your personal medical choices.

You're also the type of bat shit crazy republican who said the "Market will fix itself" type of lines and lo and behold, we have billions in bank bailouts, communism for the rich, democracy for the poor. But I'm sure you're gonna blame that on the people who signed up for those loans right?

You're a right wing nut, and obviously a victim of this two party system so I'll let you have your fun on this thread.

i should probably begin by stating that being a republican doesn't mean that one is against the socialist tide that seems to be sweeping over this nation, it merely indicates a belief that it should be slowed and, if possible, reversed at some point in time. that party long ago succumbed to the avarice of the masses for entitlements they do not necessarily deserve. demands from everyone for their slice of the pie have forced even the most staid constitutionalists to trade promises of wealth redistribution for the support of weak willed voters.

You Republicans pay taxes and support the welfare state you say you hate but yet beg for it at the end of your life when your old and broke.
in case you haven't noticed; there is very little choice but to pay into the system, whether you like it or not. the gigantic ponzi scheme known as social security is running full blast, trickling out money to those that have had no choice but to pay for it and supporting the massive bureaucracy needed to operate it. the alternative to paying taxes for most people is the forfeiture of their savings to the greedy machine of the state or even imprisonment. the armed might of government demands its pound of flesh.

I have the right to bitch because I DON'T pay taxes and i'm be FORCED into YOUR ideology.
first off, we all pay for the usurious taxation forced on us by the nanny state. even those who avoid paying income taxes see that drain in the form of higher prices for anything they buy. when i decided to go legit with my business i was forced to raise my prices so that i could afford to pay government for services i didn't even use and it is the same with any other business. the idea that prices would remain high without the added burden of outrageous taxation, due to the greed of big business, is another of those lies the liberal establishment uses to justify their expanding control over the market place.

secondly, the fact that you supposedly are not affected by taxes actually decreases your basis for complaint. you may be subject to the ever increasing intrusions of the nanny state, but at least you're not forced to pay for it as well.

You pay for whats coming and admitted to it all of the republican right wingers came in here saying "Oh I pay taxes, but fuck socialism"..........................You don't see the hypocrisy?
a certain amount of hypocrisy is required for survival. i believe illegal immigration should be dealt with in the sternest possible fashion, but i don't go shouting it to the rooftops because of the decidedly hispanic nature of my neighborhood and my desire not to have any of the young punks that live next door voice their opposition to my views with destruction (i know this may sound a bit racist, but it's also true). i am steadfastly against government waste and the coddling of so many special interest groups that my tax dollars pay for, but i continue to pay them because i don't want big brother knocking on my door and using his rigged judicial system to steal what little i have managed to accumulate (i'd also prefer the authorities not open the doors to my grow room and find yet another reason to steal my freedom).

with the limited choices given them, you can hardly blame conservative voters for their adherence to the republican party. the alternatives to going along with with the political status quo are just too much for most to bear. insurrection seems too uncivilized and secession just an impossible dream. the armed might of the state and its seeming willingness to incarcerate those who dare to oppose its will with anything but empty rhetoric make all but subservience seem the rational choice.

That test was fun!

I'm pretty much where I expected to be... smack dab in the center left with Ghandi and the Dalai Lama.

i just love these damn things, even if the questions are a bit stilted. the one on the left is my rational answer, the right represents my answers in a perfect world. i guess we all have figured out that i have a problem with authority.
