How to transplant from backyard soil?

So I made the noob mistake of using backyard gardening soil for my seedlings. just tried transplanting a month old seedling, and the soil just crumbled away revealing the the whole bottom of the stem, shes gotta be a gonner. I have two left to transplant, is there any way that will make for a safe transplant with this soil? Would watering it a crap load work?

Month old? no sweat. Just gently pull it once your new site is prepped, and plant it bare root. It will survive.

if there in pots, let the soil dry, tip upside down, ease her out, if she rooted goood, break the roots at bottom, throw her in the fresh soil, water her in, with room temperature water, ph'd of course, and she will be just fine
