Got this from tumi, this is based on the results of the small study they did.

I just got my sample tubes in the mail today from tumi. I’m testing all my gear acquired from ajn plus everything else in my room. Something I should of done before throwing in my main room. I also just got a tray of gypsy zoap, pink runtz, gummiez, and trufflez that I just received unexpectedly and will be ordering another set of sample tubes for testing these as well. I will be posting my results as well.

Which ajn strains you testing?
Make sure you add in the roots.
Goodluck✌

How many of your plants tested positive? Totally sucks that you got hit so hard with it, but at least now you know. There are probably a bunch of people on this forum who are in your exact position but don't even know it yet. I don't know if this will help anyone, but a cheaper alternative to buying a pair of clippers for each plant is to use disposable scalpels, and just label and reuse them. I think it's a good practice to keep one for each seed you pop for pruning/topping, etc-they're cheaper and easier to store and disinfect. Bleach is great but the idea of using 10% bleach all the time inside makes me ill to think about. 20% nonfat powdered milk (20 grams p-milk to 100 ml water) is one of the most effective in studies, but it requires soaking time to work, you can't dip a tool in milk and then go right to the next plant. But considering how innocuous milk is vs bleach, it might be worth considering for some purposes, like overnight tool soaking with no fumes.
Is this something I need to do growing 4 plants strictly from seed in a single tent?

I want to get one of these and run my own tests, plant sexing tests too:

No not at all. Even if you grow a tainted seed, it's possible the viroid won't even affect that plant noticeably during it's growth cycle, but if you took a cutting of it, and grew it as a mother plant, then the future clones would be heavily infected from day 1-that's when people start noticing rooms full of dudded plants. It's only really necessary for people who propagate their plants AND send them to other people (either cuts or seeds), either for fun or profit. Or if you take in any clone and want to keep it long term.

Thanks. Those are all things I want to do in the future so I guess it's good to start learning prevention methods/practices now.

As you can see all of Aunty Jane sourced cuts tested positive. I have all of Aunty janes cuts in my main grow area. All these other cuts are from others I’ve traded with/purchased or seeds that I have popped and in my quarantine tent in my house. My main grow area is in a tuff shed in my back yard. Just to clarify I haven’t brought anything else into my main grow area since I had Apple fritter almost 2 years ago. After the Apple fritter runs i disinfected everything and have been running Aunty janes cuts only since last year in November. Therefore it is highly probable that they are the source of infection. Well guys that sucked but at least now I know. This run is about to finish so after the chop I will be using my deep disinfectant protocols and start with fresh gear. These others that tested clean will get tested again in about 1-2 months if I don’t just toss as well.

I told him that his practices were going to infect lots of gardens but he pretty much laughed in my face. He's a first class scumbag.

A lot of bad information going on about this virus. There is no need for continued testing over an elongated period unless you are unsure of your controls. If you test a full room of mothers out multiple times over a 3 month period with no infection then that room is basically cleared. The latency lasts 2 months at most. That is an extreme as well just for conservatism. Once that area is cleared then there is no way it can be introduced other than by human error. This virus is not transferred as easy as we are making it out to be. It must be physically applied to the plant.
Bleach tools
Wash hands
Quarantine and test new cuts before they come in to your mother room.
I put all this in another thread they deleted calling it spamming.

Once you have done this, what vectors could the virus possibly enter your garden??

You can test periodically at that point just for reassurance. Darkheart tests continually because they bring in new strains often and their workers work with them and two they have a large pool of workers who may or may not always follow operating procedures so they need to test to double check. As an individual in a garden though who is the lone worker and the only vector for anything, it is easier to control making sure you always follow procedure.
You have no place in this thread what's so ever. Latency lasting 2 months? You actually know Nothing about plants or viroids. Get out of here.

Oh it was a trip all right......a trip all my plants took to the trash bin
Its a painful process that leaves growers gutted. My experience with duds has been a couple of years now, but it still stings when I think about the cultivars I lost.
Shout out to @UpstateRecGrower for mentioning tumi might send sample kits to Canada if it wasn't for him I would have had the shitty leaf and petioles tests done in Canada
Take heart, JB. Your contributions to these threads have likely saved growers from chasing their tails with DH

I just ordered a ten pack from TUMI. Getting a few things off discord, so want to just go ahead and test now to avoid any issues. Also, Gonna test the zawtz I picked up last month in Hollywood and my 92og, runtz, and wedding cake I’ve had for a bit.
How'd it go?

what does that mean for people who reuse soil?
