Hps 250

I set up my 250wt hps light. How far from the plants should it be? I set it about 25 inches away last night but they started smelling a little and the leaves change colors to a lighter shade.

They are like 6 weeks old. I was using florus but the growth was too slow.

do you have a fan cooling the plants, what's the room temp?

Yes I have a small fan blowing, the room temp is 88. The smell I spoke of was a juicy green smell, maybe that's normal?

you may have something on the bulb? i would turn off bulb, wait 10 min, wipe clean the bulb and turn back on

But how many inches should a 250wt hps be from the plants.....20in....25in??

with proper ventilation, 12-18 inches

Ok, thanks. I think the smell is just something I'm not used to because it's actually a good smell....juicy green but nothing burning.

About 24 inches, 18 at the most.

Move it down a few inches a day. You can get it within 1' of the top of the plants. And yes you will need ventilation. Maybe you already have it.
