Hey RIU,
I already have the 440 watt solar storm (320 actual watts) and I was planning on adding a 600 watt hps to the mix. I have several questions. Here It goes.
1. Has anyone ever mixed hps and led in same tent? Results?
2. How should I hang the lights? 600 watt in the middle, led on one side or one on each side?
3. Should I use 4x4 or 5x5 tent?
4. Is a 6" inline fan enough to cool the tent? Tent will be in a room with 5000 but air conditioner.
5. Should I hold on the led a just get a 1000 watt hps? I just hate to have a $900 led that I know produces good bud to just sit in my closet.
Any ideas or opinions are very welcome.

1..yes 1000w and a 600w...with a 300w apollo led .........it justiied the move to LED for the thicker buds
2 hang the 600w in the middle then angle the led ...rotate the plant 1/4 turn a day
3 4x4 600w is great for that the led is only adding in depth
4 possible make sure to use insulted ducting to reduce heat bleed off back into intake (cooler out of the tent air)
5 1000w is great for a 5x5 area but it has the same issue all HIDs have they only get 18/20 inches of thick buds and fluffy stuff....900 bucks on a LED what are u looking at it better do a hell of alot

i was HID i moved to led for heat reason and the fact i get nearly 90% of the plants thick buds ........hid did make me more over all but i could never break the 80/20 ratio on the buds (feeding pruning super cropping)

if u are going to get a led if it is just a add in go for the 300w apollo"s on amazon ..........works good on autos nice blue to red if u get 2 u can have the hid center the led 2 of them over the sides at slight angle

if u are going full LED here
http://www.ledzeal.com/p44.html

this is makers not retailers ........if u want a price quote u have to talk to them just email the guy on the side and talk to him ....i talked to kevin ..........trust me talk to the ppl just for a quote and compare it to retailers

i have the light 2 grows going on my 3rd and does me nice the light handles the whole thing growth flower and UV/finisher

Thanks for the help. Was a little worried it wouldn't work. But I guess the dual spectrum from both lights will compliment each other. Very interesting how you said angle the led. Will do. I already have the led light and it works well. Wish I had the money to get a few of the new area 51 lights. So i have to settle for hps for now. But I plan to share half my crop with my brother. From this I'll try to get the new area 51 lights. Thanks again justugh...

Just buy another LED and save the $ on the extra ventilation you goona need? 4x4 and 5x5 is to small for your light. Cali lightworks 440 covers 3x3 area and 600 watt hps covers 4x4 by itself. you should get 4x8! PIC is 4ft 7in x4 ft 7 in with 740watts from the wall.

think of light as a cone from the point it starts so by angling it u have moved where the power point is from that light ......u want to aim for the mid lvl of the plant......it should do the same thing for u cause the leaves to be little thicker and the inner lower part of the plant really wants to flower (the sucker zone) but if u prune off the weak looking ones the other ones thicken up little popcorn buds

as for the light waves .........again i grow Auto flowers they like both lights.......if u are doing just a booster light look for a Flowering one if u are photos (cut your hid off and let your led run for 15 mins longer)

it is a long shot but u are trying to mimic the red flash at night the last few mins before the sun sets it alters it light waves always has and plants have gotten use to it .....it triggers the plant rest cycle instead of a 2 hour flip to rest and work that way it is like a 20 min thing in nature .......think the light wave is 712 or 720nm been a few years since i read the paper

Check my home page for postings to white russian grow second go. I am running two solar storm 440s beside two 1000w dimmable hids right now.

It works well. But the problem i ran into is this: the hid plants like canopy temps around 75 during bloom and the led plants like it around 82ish. So what i have done is point 6" clip on fans straight at my hid lights to blow in the direction of the led lights. That way i keep my hid canopy around 75ish and the led canopies around 78ish. Not ideal for the led girls, but they are doing great.
