Hps bulb life.

High folks. I've got a few 400w hps bulbs that came with a pair of kit ballast sets. I'm running one of them next to a 400w dual spectrum bulb using a adjustable digi ballast. My question is about the light colour of the hps bulb. It is more white than the dual spectrum bulb! I expected it to be more orange like hps bulbs typically are. Is this whiteness a sign that the bulb has been well used?? Or is it just a variation of manufacture, like say more an industrial lighting spec rather than a horticultural one?? Hope this makes sense

I know my Hortrilux came in two different k-temps. Some where yellow & some more white. Around when they added the blue spike or 15% more blue.

Useful information. I've only had it running for 3days and I'm happy with the plants progress so I'm not gonna worry now.

Wouldnt worry at all. All hps bulbs will work just about the same. I remember buying these inexpensive ones thst said 150,000 lumen instead of the usual 100.000. It did great & if by the third run it was down 95,000, thsts just fine. All the spectrums are nullified by output imo.
Yes, i bought Hortrilux & DigiLux expensive bulbs but you don't have to.
X3 turns is usually my rule of thumb but have gone x5 with good results too.
My first year of growing i was under the impression that they should be switched every x2 runs. That's not true & very expensive .
30% depreciation happens around 3.5-4 flower runs i think.

Nice one. That furthers my understanding of what's what. Thanks
