HPS Bulbs Venting.

First off, I know almost nothing of growing.
My question, 600 watt HPS Bulb generates heat ofcourse, but if it was in a 10x10 room would I have to ventilate the room? I mean its rather large. THe problem is that its a basement, i cant exactly fuck with the ceiling if people live above right? The window is out of the question also. Thoughts?

You need ventilation for more then just heat. Your ventilation is going to refresh the rooms air bringing in c02. Your also likely to make a carbon filter attached to your ventilation if you don't want to get caught.

if you cant get fresh air you might look into Co2...Dont know much about it but thats what I have read a few times :D hope it helps

c02 would probably help but it isn't a cheap investment and still wouldn't solve all your problems.

Then DO NOT be so hasty buying major lights thinking its going to comeout like a pro.
Do CFL grows before engaging on shit like this.
Your reaching for the stars with a 2 foot stool bro.. cool down...
Start slow... Read, read.. and read some more.
I read for 2 years on this site before ever conducting a grow.
And im still not perfected.

my thought are read a book or 2 then come back a 600w will not cover a 10x10. you ned 3-4 1000w and aircooled hoods. a 600w pretty much needs an aircooled hood.
Your going a little extreme there bro, 600 watt isn't a lot but it will cover pretty close to a 5x5 area. Realistically if he wanted to use all 10x10 I would go 2 maybe 3 600w's or 2 1000w. Plus your not solving his initial problem a aircooled hood does close to nothing if the air has no where to escape too.

He did answer his question..
He said get a air cooled vent....
That's pretty much exactly the solution.
Hook that up and run a large exhaust upstairs.

This guy is mostly right except for the starting out with CFLs that's awful IMO, start out with HID lighting just expect you may not get your investment back off your first grow. Might as well get used to the equipment your going to use, plus cfl grows require very good light placement or you get stretching plants and your grow fails.

Im talking about starting out as a grower.
This guy knows nothing... he admitted it..
If you going to spend couple hundred dollars on a setup..
You should at least have had a shitty CFL grow under your belt to know the basics.

You shouldn't jump start to an HPS..
Just my 2 cents <3

No he actually said get a air cooled hood either you can't read or you don't know the difference between a hood and vent. In which case stop advising people.

No, I am correcting you for correcting me for no reason. If you didn't read that it says hood it means you need to more thoroughly read posts before you reply and if you don't know what a hood is can you really argue that you shouldn't advise people on their indoor grows?

It doesnt matter if he gets an air cooled HOOD or not. It doesnt answer his question. He needs to know where to vent the air to since a window is out of the question and there are people upstairs.

If it's a 2 story house, chances are there is a pocket somewhere leading to the attic. Get a good flashlight and start looking at where some of the AC/Heat ducts go up to the 2nd floor. Might be a way to get up to the attic from there.

If it's just a single story house it may be more difficult if you can't somehow vent upstairs or out a window.

More info about your living situation would be helpful.

nice ol bud, relax man. You sound like you're taking this personally. He knows nothing, which is fine, even if he buys expensive lights. It's his money so what's the problem. He came on here to get some advice and help. If you think he's not worth your time, then don't reply to his thread whether it is positive or negative. CHILL BRO. I get a feeling that your grow is still curing because you need to bun-a-ting and relax man.

OP, this is my frist grow too and yeah you're gonna need to vent regardless of the room size man. I'm growing in a 9' x 9' room (only growing 3 plants so im using a 5' x 3' area) with a 600 watt (with cool tube) as well and you NEED a way to recycle the air as it will get too hot and too stale (not fresh). It's hard to give you advice on how to exhaust your air since we do not know the house or what is possible or available. Good luck man

Honestly im not the one thats mad at all.
Im really in a good mood today lol.

Im really also trying to help him dude..
If people refuse my advice then that sucks..
Im trying to help him know the plant before spending $500+ on a setup with a shit load of drama.

He'd be better off trying to start a cfl grow or t5..
Thats all im saying lol..?

I hear ya. I read and read and read then I started. Maybe he's very excited and anxious. Nothing wrong with that. This is my first grow and I started with a 600watt system. So far so good thanks to this site and the knowledgable folks.
