hps in envirolight reflestor

hi guys,

i was considering buying a relatively small compact hps ballast and wiring it into my envirolight reflector (dual one with exhaust fan on top) so i can try a hps bulb instead of one of my 125w red spec envirolights...

the reason im using envirolights is because my growspace is in a wardrobe and heat would be a serious issue.

what wattage hps would be low enough- yet effective enough without causing excess heat??

What are you dealing with? Size of grow area? Do you have venting to control heat build up? A wardrobe or closet can be the length of the room or a small coat closet. Are you going to use something on the side walls to reflect the light? White paint or mylar? Going to have separate veg and flowering areas?

the envirolite reflector more or less fits the wardrobe perfectly...

the reflector cooling fan is the only heat reduction in the flowering chamber

How many plants you trying to grow in that small closet? If it was me I would first off do the SOG method, second, do no more than maybe at max 2-4 plants, at least from what I can tell by the pic of your grow space. With the SOG method you can start flowering very early, keep the canopy to a minimum, and clip all branches (except main stalk) to help keep your plants within your grow space & height. As for lighting, you may want to talk to Garden Knowm about using CFL's. They run much cooler, and you can pick them up at any local home depot, Lowe's and so on for real cheap.

Another nice feature I think when using CFL's is that you can veg on top and bud on bottom when using CFL's and Rockwool cubes, of course that is if you have adequate grow height.

The flowering part is light tight?

as light tight as i can get it..
the plants seem to be flowering ok in there anyway.

Really need to know the size of the room.You can get 70 watt hps at home depot for $50.00.If its to small for a 250 than i would get one or two of the 70watt.
