HPS light problems

I have a small 70w HPS bulb that will turn off for no apparent reason. The light will stay off for about 30 seconds to a minute and will then pop back on. Is it a wiring problem? heat? whats causing the bulb to turn off? any advice would be greatly appreciated since i don't know a single thing about lights.

It's possible that it could be a heat problem, like there might be something that automatically shuts it off when it gets too hot, kind of like a hair dryer. BUT this is 100% guessing because I don't know your light or anything.
Does it use a ballast? and How long does it stay on for?

yes it uses a ballast. the light is supposed to be one of those flood lights you see outside of barns.
the time that it stays on for is different each time. sometimes for only a minute, sometimes for 10.
If it is heat, how can i regulate the heat?

FIXED IT!!! the light was made to run only at night... so all i had to do was cover the light sensor on top with a bit of duct tape.
