Hps light

Hello again… with the same question
Have three auto seedlings. Hps light with 250w setting and 400w and 600w setting…. I’ve got the light 3ft away from top of pots ( yes I’ve heard of the hand method) on the 400w , this is my first grow and I’m just not sure…. Can an experienced grower please help me? The are some many conflicting answers some say 30cm other say three ft? Please please help me as they have gotten of to a great

5,000 - 7,000 lux for seedlings, they don't need much light at first

I lowered a 250w hps/mh until it's 25/26c at the seedlings, imo there's no need for anything bigger than 250w it's a waste, 250/400/600w etc is a footprint issue iirc 250w covers 2x2ft.

How far away depends on your hood choice
I run open bulb and that leaves me 20 inches away

In a vented hood much less
