im thinking of purchasing some hps lights for my next grow, the area will be about 3x4, so i figure for flowering a 250 watt hps and 4-5 cfls will be sufficient. are there hps lights that just plug into wall outlets, or do they need to be wired? that is my biggest question

Hi WHITE

IF you can afford the light and deal with the heat... YOU should always get 600watts or larger..

the size of the BUDS will be noticably LARGER!!!

cheers

i think for my relatively small space i wont go any larger than 400 hps. thanks for the response, now my real question is are there HPS lights that are solely powered by wall outlets? or is there wiring involved?

Wall outlets.... normal stuff....

It is wise to dedicate at least 15 amps for a 400 watt bulb, fan, etc...

400watts is much better than 250.. if you can get the 400 you will get your $$$ worth....

cheers

lol the thought that you have to have at least a 600w light for personal use is very laughable.... people get by on 150's and your saying a 600 shuld be a minimum? omfg

Isn't 600W a bit overboard? Wouldn't getting, say, a 250W + supplemental lighting for a low-profile grow be more efficient?

600 watt is probably the best you can go with. Remember you are trying to mimic the sun. So do want what is just enough or what your plants will thrive on? 600 watts is about 95,000 lumens.
