Hi everyone im here looking for some much needed help to get me out of this panic im in and get my grow off the ground.the main thing is the lighting i have purchased a 400w hps to be used in a hydrolab lab110 grow tent over a wilma 4 pot system.i have auto ak47 x blueberry seeds and some auto white russian seeds but now im paniking about my choice of light mainly how much the hps will cost to run and wether it will produce a visable heat source to the local flying bobbies.i do have a inline fan to fit and only a normal reflector no cool tube. but will the electricity costs outweigh the final outcome.im thinking of getting a dual spectrum cfl 300w would this be better or wouldit not make any difference, any help is most welcome thanks

The HPS will be much better than the CFL. The difference will be dramatic. You just need to have good ventilation. Good luck with your grow.

Most definately stick with the HPS...the cost isnt much and I dont think a 400w will send off any signals from above.

its like this....

the rule with CFL's it seems is not to look at the equivalence but look at the actual wattage its giving off...

so if the CFL is a 300w... what is its real wattage? and you will basically need that amount of actual wattage to equal the 400w the hps is giving off to have equal effects... well at least, thats what they say here

so some people try to get 150 to 250 actual wattage in cfl's depending on grow space, size, ventalaion, reflective surfaces.. things like that

thanks guys just a couple more things would i be best purchasing a cool tube with it only been a small space and would it be ok to vent air in from via a vent on the side of the house or would the variation in outside temp have an effect
