Hey everyone, im about to start a new batch of plants, only 4 of them, am going to grow indoors, with a DWC setup
Ive got myself a 600w Growlush Digital Ballast and a 600w Growlush High Pressure Sodium bulb.
I have looked at the colour spectrum for the HPS and it is mainly RED with a small fraction of BLUE, obviously for Veg i want more blue than red and im wondering if i should use a Metal Halide MH bulb for the vegative stage and then switch to the High Pressure Sodium for the flower. i also want to know if the MH bulb will work in the 600w ballast. Also how far to hang the hood over the grow in the different stages including seedling, stretch etc.
If you guys could give me some help and any other useful tips for lighting that i should know that would be greatly appreciated.

Also how do you guys recommend i cool the grow room, at what temperature should the room be and what temperature to keep my DWC reservoir.

Also photos would be good to compare and try and image the specs that work with success.

You set on using HID lighting? LED a possibility? DWC is even harder with infrared from the bulb further warming the water. And you're going to have to exhaust whenever the lights on through a cooltube or enclosed hood.

Well, my 1000w HID ballast (magnetic) has a little toggle switch that allows you to switch between MH or HPS bulbs as needed. Does your ballast's manual not mention anything about the specific types of bulbs appropriate for your ballast? While the HPS will work for veggy, it is going to cause extreme stretch. I would think that you would be totally fine to run a MH bulb in your fixture, but I don't want to say that and you fry your ballast or even worse fry yourself lol...so I'll leave it at this: I'm reasonably confident that your ballast supports MH and HPS both. My old digital ballast ran both MH and HPS, and did not have a switch for one or the other like my current magnetic one does. Hope this helps buddy.
