hps or mh

I plan on getting another light and i want to know would it be better if I used 2 400w hps or 1 400w hps and 1 400w mh light?? I need to use both of them because my new grow area is 7ft long so I figured I would just add another 400watter. I run my hps through veg and bloom now and it works good but I would think both an hps and mh light spectrums would be better. Can someone enlighten me please?

You can veg with a flashlight with good results but unfortunately we dont smoke vegetation. MH produces smaller looser buds period.

Who is talking about flowering with just a Mh light? NO ONE!
Vegging with a Mh will give you better results and tighter nodes, END OF!

You need to understand that it is good to mix up the spectrum.

And you think a flash light will give you good results, are you vegging with a flash light are you?

LOL at you.

You are right!!! Run both types of light for vegging, grow high spots in your canopy due to a mixed spectrum and the post on here in a couple months a question about why some plants grew an ounce and why some grew less. MH is inferior to HPS for producing quality buds. Everything I have ever read from anyone who has any respect in the growing world will tell you MH is a waste and I am done with this thread so now make 2 more pages shitting on my opinion.

From what I have read on here most people recommend MH for veg and HPS for flowering. I would love to hear your thoughts on why this isn't the case. Why are you getting so wound up about this? we are only trying to have an intelligent conversation, no need to throw your toys out the buggy.

I'm not shitting on your opinion i'm asking for your opinion, isnt that how a conversation works? I agree, you disagree, you agree I disagree then we come to a conclusion based on the facts and what we believe.

Yeah I am sorry. I am a facts guy and I read ALOT!! I have a hard time with opinions on here because half the people on here have either never grown, have killed plants (easiest thing in the world to grow) or just read a thread and stand behind it without any further research. I read alot of stuff from some of the old school guys (Cerventes, Rosenthal, Sam the Skunkman etc..) and the popular opinion is that MH is an adequate light source but if you have or can get an HPS then MH is completely inferior overall. Yes it will grow a great plant. I will even swallow my personal opinion and say maybe it is equal to or slightly better than an HPS for vegging but if you use both together you will have a wave in your growth (bad for SOG) and evn though your plants will finish slightly faster the buds will be inferior vs. HPS start to finish and there is a guy in Iceland doing a study now and he is lening towards saying that t5's are even better than MH both alone and in combinatin with HPS. I feel that if I was gonna spend money on a second light I wouldn't waste my time and money on an MH when I am certain what the results will be with 2 HPS which will be a better finished product. Isn't the finished product what we are after?

Does Mh have U.v light that increases resin production more than HPS? Yes IT does.

Of course mixing the spectrum will be better for plants than not mixing it.

No one here is saying Mh would flower plants better than HPS, but adding a Mh to the mix will of course be better.

Now do you understand?

It seems like some people don`t know how to give a constructive answer. In what you were tryin to ask,Both lights would be better.Thats my opinion. Both lights would give you tighter buds than a hps alone..Just my two cents..Stay Happy,Healthy, and High..Drif.

I would like to see that research from Iceland BigV, especially if it shows that T5's work out better than MH as i'm sure T5's would use a lot less energy and save me money. My lamp is switchable so I use the MH lamp for Veg then swap it over to the HPS for flowering.

So your suggesting I use the HPS all the way from the start? I may give this a try on my next grow and see how it goes. Am I right in saying you get more lumens from the HPS than you do from the MH? I thought you were always better mixing your light spectrums as it was more like the sun.

I really can't imagine T5's doing as well as my 400Watt MH as the plant I grow was like a little bush when it was growing on the MH and got much lankier when it changed over to the HPS.

What's this wave in my growth thing? How does the change over effect my plant?

See isnt this much more constructive than shouting abuse at each others thoughts :)
