i have a couple of mogul sockets whose plugs are for an hps ballast. can i cut them off and wire them to a regular 120v plug? i would like to use them for some big cfl's. thanks!

A plug is a plug if it is rated for your job load.

why not cut the old plug-in end off and put the right kind back on? Jimmy riggin a ballest doesnt sound like the best idea in the world to me, not when plug-in ends are only a couple of bucks. just my opinion tho..good luck

As long as the cord is connected to a scocket only, changing the plug will work fine for a bulb that needs no ballast.
