hps vs cfl vegging

No, not that question. Just wondering what anyone's experience has been like. I currently veg with cfls, then put into flower under a 1000 w hps. I'm wondering if they would veg better under the hps. Like 12 hours hps then 6 under the cfls. I only ask because cfls work but they suck compared to plants vegged under a 400 w mh. So would the hps have better growth then cfl?

I like cfls for early plant stages, i.e. seedling, clone and building strong root system, but once plants get roughly 10" a hid will speed things up quite a but.

A cfl can keep a top short and its good for training or slow vegging but an hps, even in veg will definetly give more photo energy then cfl's of the same wattage.

The choice for veg should be HID or cxb/vero. 400W MH or HPS or if you need less power, DIY cxb.

If you really insist on using fluorescent for veg, 4 foot t8 shoplamps that you can get for 10 bucks at home depot or walmart.

I'd rather throw that 400 back up, but running side by side with the 1000 is just too much money.

yeah this works I was given some nice multispectral HPS bulb for my 600 I vegged several runs with them they work nearly as good as a buddy's grow with MH

T5 or CFL for sprouts rooting clones and early veg but HID for true veg time is faster and nicer in my opinion
