Human Urine (Fertilizer)

Hi everyone,

I read several articles about using human urine as fertilizer.
It seems that human urine has tremendous amount of nitrogen and pretty cheap as you all figure out :-P
The only thing you need is a bottle
Does anyone ever use such thing?
Most importantly, what is the best dilution rate? and, how frequently we should use it?

Im with Dro, at this rate i wont ever have to buy ferts again. Just good old fashioned shit. " this shit right here..., this SHIT right hereee.."

Yeah...I wouldn't venture to use it as a fert....Did you know that human hair has more nitrogen than most of our fertilizers we use?

So next time you or your girlfriend or whatever cleans out their brush stick all that hair in a compost pile...

The only way to get cheap nutes really is to start a compost pile...they are easy...
If you have a yard just make a pile in the yard, or hair trimmings, household food trash, (peelings and such) some soil...and then just add food things as they go bad or you don't need them...and just let it sit...
If you don't have a yard, then you need a bucket with drain holes...and just fill up the bucket with the same items you would put in the pile...no meat products, no dairy...

People can be such dipshits. What the hell is the matter with you even thinking about that? Why not shit on it? I'm an RN - 32 years - and this is about as silly as it gets. Over and out.

Leaves. Leaf mold. Bags of them free for the asking in many areas come Fall. Forget yard grass clippings. That crap is just that - crap - except as a very slow decomposing organic to soil. Any organic kitchen goodies but NO meat or bones unless you want rats and 'coons visiting. Add shovels of soil and layer. Sawdust from untreated woods in small amounts acts like Perlite or Vermiculite. Then turn regularly with a shovel or rake. It ain't rocket science. Don't piss or shit on your compost pile though. 8)

If your not taking meds then urine is a cheap nitrogen ideal for composting. Old coffee is great most restaurants will give you coffee grounds free. You really shouldn't freak out about this stuff its just urine. Most compost you buy will be full of dried urine. Horse, cow, chickens and don't cry meat eater urine is bad, cause a chickens eat everything.
Hers is a great thread on composting, this guy picked up dead animals for the state and he composted that.

Variety of components adds diversity of nutrients to compost.

Hi, guys

Dont laugh at me,lol

I did an experiment about this. The aim was to see if Na would be build up in the soil and prevent the plant to take other nutrients.

mix : 25 ml urine and 1 liter water

Plant: I do not know what is the name of the strain, or even if there is one. There are lots of crosses over here :) However, it is obviously a sativa. (finger like, narrow, light green leaves)

Ive washed that plant soil with that mix once in a day for 2 days. Results are amazing, not for the plant actually :D, Right now, it has the darkest green leaves among all of these plants approx. 50 (30 seedlings) even darker than indicas :D Clearly, nitrogen toxicity. Hey, I didnt aim to make it healthy tough :D I stopped givinig this mix, and we will see other results (if any) in following days.

Notes:
1- You do not need to afraid of viruses or bacteria. A healthy human urine does not have any of them.
2- look out for the foliage, this mix should not contact with it.
3- Obviously, you need to cauties about Na level in your urine and the water.
4- Dont use it after 24 hours, or dilute it more. Because, ammonium level going to increase in that time and might burn roots.

Assumptions:
Normal Na values in human urine is 40-220 mEq/L/day. approx. we pee 5 times a day so, it makes 8-44 mEq/L equal to 184-1012 ppm.
Water I used already has 1.2 ppm Na in it. So, my mix has (25ml in it) 5.8-26,5 ppm Na.
Till the 50 ppm Na, there is no need any precaution. Though, you should be very careful about your salt intake.

max. physiological concentration of Na in human urine is about 270-290 mEq/L equal to 6210-6670 ppm, So, even in my mix it makes 157-168 ppm Na.
That means, you will blow up all of the things around you, even your wee wee :D
Dumb proof: Dont drink sea water and Dont eat salt :P

My understanding of the human urine question (comes up on all weed forums) is that you need to dilute it maybe 10:1 or 20:1 water to urine. It has a lot of salts that can cause nutrient lockout like non-organic ferts. I saw a chart where it showed that it has just about every nutrient in it. Somebody on here with good rep said that he uses it when there's a (unknown?) deficiency and it will correct just about anything that is deficient. Doesn't sound like a long term solution to an underlying problem, but sometimes in the ER they give people extreme drugs that are not for everyday just to get sick people over the hump.

I am personally not going to use urine unless some kind of Armageddon happens and I get desperate. I did pee on my super soil (while it was cooking) after reading a "human urine" thread and the plants are doing well two months into veg. I don't think they would be doing so well if I peed in the super soil like 30 time however.

I think the bottom line is some pretty gnarly stuff: human pee, human poo, menstrual blood has some pretty good fertilizer potential-if you can't get something less nasty.

We use nasty slaughterhouse leftovers and urea-smelling bat poo all the time.

menstrual blood HAHAHAHA i could see some dude telling his gf he needs some of her menstrual blood :bigjoint: that gotta be a joke right? i mean who in there right mind would use menstrual blood for fertilizer UGHHHGH!
