I've started some lettuce in coco because I've had such good luck with "other" plants, lol and I was curious to opinions on when I should start nutes?
I've got some cana A&B and I don't think I need too much sooooooooooooo
I've got little tiny plants all over my planter box so we'll just call this "day one of veg".

yEAH, THEY WERE JUST YOUR BASIC GARDEN VARIETY sHIT, lettuce seeds planted in a rectangular planter box stuck in the south facing window sill of my bathroom. I think lettuce is pretty easy to grow but for some reason the seeds from my last crop that I left go to seed did not come up outside so I thought I would try this in coco. It looks like I have about 90% germination which is pretty good for no heat.

We had some relatives over for the holidays so I had to hide all my grow paraphenalia because one of my relatives is DEA Doh!!!. So anyway I hid my seed starting heat mat so well that I can't find it now. Hiding all the stuff was a waste of time because about three in the afternoon of our partae I look over and one of the kids has a MJ stump about as thick as my wrist and he is swinging it around lik a weapon. Oh well, so much for stealth. I don't think I'm fooling anyone and I don't really give a shit but I try to keep up apearances for the Wifes sake. Like I said, OH WELL, lol.

So I checked out a bunch of videos on you tube and it looks like I can start nutes pretty quickly. They were saying 75 days to harvest in winter. We'll see how that goes. I will post some pics when you can see anything but right now they are just whiskers. Can't really even see them unless you look from an angle and then it looks like a little forrest.

i may need to make a berry seeder if this turns out to be viable. I think it will so I'll be making one of those if I get a chance.

Yeah, kinda weak in the patience department. I keep pulling the plant up to see if it's rooted yet, lol
I had a nice crop of broccoli last season so I'm hoping to duplicate that with lettuce.
So whaddya think of the broccoli?

I start my lettuce on a weak nutrient solution but usually after a week I use half strength nutes for the rest of the grow period, but I work with rockwool and hydroton so I'm not as familiar with coco

I smoked lettuce one time back in high school. Not knowingly - it had been put in with the bud to moisten it. When we got to the bottom of the bag it tasted like shit. Not that it wasn't shit to begin with...
I wonder if vaping lettuce has any medicinal properties.
I've vapped dried papaya leaves and it is just like an asthma inhaler - total broncho-dilator.
Mint and sage are real soothing on the throat.
I usually only hit the vape if I'm sick or maybe a sore throat.

Well to be honest, I'm kinda wingin it myself because I am using straight coco this time with the lettuce and last time I used a coco pearlite rockwool cube mix and I'm sure they are two completely different mediums except for the one commonality which is a sterility so nutes are pretty important. I used about 1200 ppm to get those colas so you're saying about 600 or maybe four hundred and see what happens? You sound experienced? Grown some lettuce have ya?

As soon as the heart has formed the lettuce plant is ready for cutting. Check for firmness by gently pressing down on the top of the heart area with the back of your hand. This is the safest way as squeezing may damage plant tissue and if the
plant is not ready to pick some horrible diseases may enter, as discussed above.

If the plant is ready and left in the ground too long (5-7 days) the heart will start to grow upwards - a sure sign it is begining to bolt. Cut them immediately for use or dig up and compost.
When cutting for use it is best to lift the whole plant, cut off the root and lower leaves, placing them on your compost heap - don`t leave on the bed to attract pests and diseases.
You should now be holding a delicious looking lettuce plant of some variety. This is the end game - after applying your knowledge of how to grow lettuce you can now go and enjoy with pride the very real fruits of your labour, there are not many thrills greater than this.
Bon appertite.
