Hydro - Mother coming to visit for the day, air pump needs to be shut off, will roots

18v air pump makes enough noise to hear from outside of grow box.. Its like a vibrating sound, but I should probably turn it off. The two plants that are in a 10 gal resevoir, 150w hps light, should be fine for 20 hours right.? Maybe I can turn it on here and there when I get the chance.. Just something for additional info, How long can plants go without oxygen to the roots, before it becomes a serious issue. I would imagine 2-4 days?

more like 2-4 hours.. 2-4 days is wishful for many of those who may have time constraints... as for pump.. you can't just explain you're doing a scientific test that requires the room to be completely left alone? Am completely against what you have to do, but understand why you have to do it. That said, good luck with this one.

that would NEVER work with my mom. I tell her ANY reason why she cant go into a room and the questions start pouring in until I finally just have to start a fight, piss her off, and walk away so I can quit making up answers to her questions (havent actually had this specific problem come up, but similar things)

Go buy a 20$ fish tank from Walmart and throw some guppies in it. Run a bubbler will drown out the noise from the other pump

Also you can empty most of the water out, keep some in the bottom for the plant to uptake but leave most of the roots hanging in air and they will be fine. You can leave them with the air off all day like that. With most of the roots hanging in air they won't drown.

I have a mother plant I don't pay much attention to, only change the water every 3 days when there's only a couple inches of water left in the bucket. Last week I went to change the water and that room had no power. Found out my brother had blown that breaker the day before and didn't bother to go reset it. Lights and pump where off for about 16 hours. I was pissed but she was fine (just had to leave the lights on 24 hrs for a few days to make sure she didn't start to flower.) Bucket was about 1/4 full and she didn't even droop.

You're smoking some -really good shit- if you think 20 hrs in a hydro setup without anything will work... by all means kill your own crops, but DO NOT recommend others do the same.
