hydro, i.e. DWC, is the easiest and most time eliminating yet most unforgiving, if u r set up hydro, than run both.

hes right with his comment, but if you don't know what your doing with hydro you may come into your room one day with all your plants dead.Soil is more forgiving.

i tried hydro my first time and it was easy (after research)
PH checked regularly
Nutes added by directions (fox farms)
regular changing of water every 2 weeks
- other than that its effort less

you cant really kill plants overnight ! they are forgiving and if you monitor ph you should be set. you can make a dwc setup for very minimal cost using rubermaid tubs aquarium bubbler and net pots

any ways good luck

DWC was my first plan then i got light tray and everything for like 250 so i was thinking fuck it run it this way now im trippen because my boy who has been growing both ways said to go soil first not to get ahead of myself but fuck i have all the time in the world to be on the ph levels and nutes

You should listen to your boy! Yes soil grown weed takes longer to mature, but like Cannaman already said, you will have a larger margin for error if something goes wrong in the soil. In hydro you can really fuck your shit up if your water pump dies or your ph meter is off or something like that. Plus, THEY SAY that weed grown in soil tastes better than weed grown in hydro so you will probably get a better tasting product in the soil. I would just listen to your boy until you get the hang of things, especially if you are depending on your crop for $$$.

I'm almost through my first grow, and I was undecided about hydro vs. soil as well. I had even bought the stuff I'd need for an ebb-and-flow unit, but was talked out of going hydro my first try. I'm now using pro-mix with amazing results.

In hindsight, there was nothing through the first time that was all that difficult, so I probably could have managed the hydro setup fine enough. But I spent a massive amount of time reading and doing research first.
