Hydro set up, how much fresh air...

hey..

i have a hydro setup... do i really need a lot of fresh air... as i have two extractor fans, 1 - for the cooltube and 2 - for the fresh intake... with both running, the noise increases...

cant i just make a hold in one of the pipes connected to the cooltube? therefore, it will not only push 90% of air through the cooltube, it will also push around 10% through that one little hole..(1cm or 2cm) and into the grow room.. i have tried it and got pressure just like a slight blow to the neck.. isn't this enough? (circulating fan inside in operation too)

What are your temps, and humidity?

temp is 75degF ... not sure about humidity.. plants are not in yet, would i need a humidity meter too? what sort of humidity am i suppose to look out for?

For veg my humidity stays between 30-50%. It really depends on where u r located tho. Your temps are pretty low so I would mess with the exaust and intake until you find the right sound your looking for.

temp averages around 85deg down to 80... so do i need another extractor for the fresh air? isn't a (1cm hole) continuous blow of air using the intake be enough? i just dont want two extractors running...

Yeah u may not need the extract fan if the intake is cool enough

so why does everyone say its vital for fresh air? the plants respires and co2 is produced as well as o2.. my hydro has 12 gallons of water with a 3ml per min pumping to a 12" air stone... this should increase humidity too.. and also air stone gives the plants oxygen thought the roots... so why the need of so much fresh air?

Plants need co2 brought in low in the room. You can add co2 to the room or bring in a small amount of fresh air. You usually get enough co2 produced by just having a fan going.

If you don't have fresh air circulating, the plants use up all the fresh air to get their C02, then you are left with stagnant air that the plants can no longer use.

I use a 265 squirrel cage fan for exhaust, a high velocity mini floor fan on the floor by my intake for some more fresh air, and an oscillating fan inside to move the air around. Combined the fans exhaust the stale air, bring in fresh air, move the air around, and control the temps.

Your humidity should run between 40% - 60%.

My temps are averaging 76 - 80 degrees depending on how hot it is outside.

i thought my small hole which brings a continuous small blow of fresh air (just like blowing into your hands softly) would be enough! ... now i have to add that other noisy extractor..

in that case, i don't need the extractor to bring in fresh air at night.. plants cant take in co2 at night. therefore, i can switch it off at night and just have a small fan circulating around for humidity reasons, right?

I can't really comment on that. I leave my fans running 24/7. It will need to run 24/7 soon anyway since I will be running into a carbon scrubber to mask the odor.

LOOOOLLLL sorry man,, english was bad, i was high... rephrase..

in that case, i don't need the extractor to bring in fresh air at night.. plants cant take in co2 at night. therefore, i can switch it off at night and just have a small fan circulating around for humidity reasons, right?

thats what i meant,.. besides, i have decided to use both extractors, 1 for the cooltube and 1 to bring in fresh air..... maybe throwing in co2 tablets into my res will increase co2.. need to find out.

i was thinking that too would excell work for that?

its best not to have air from the outside coming into your room because bugs and diseases come in from the outside. also it is a billion times harder to contol temps and humidity if you have air exhausting to the outside. you want a sealed room with small intake holes but not intaking air from the outside just a room other than the grow room. you want to control your temps with chillers or a/c units. and about humidity you wont have a problem once you have a bunch of plants in 1 room you gotta worry about lowering your humidity. and never turn fans off that are in the grow room because the air flow is really important. the air that osolating fans move around is fresh enough.
