Hydrofarm Active Air inline fans

Why do these fans have such useless mounting brackets? Anyone who owns one of these fans please tell me how you hung them safely. The mounting brackets fit very loose on my 6" fan and make me uncomfortable with using them to hang over my plants. It's like they give you screws that are too short or something.

your putting them in the wrong hole they are self tapping and should hold very tight. but i dont use the bracket i bent chains in to hooks and place them in the holes and hug it up. bungee cords for cars works well to. or hemp rope. hell ive use it all.

I use paracord to hang all my shit..its strong as hell, works great on hanging fans for noise reasons..if you have an army navy store close, you can buy the rope for pretty cheap. The bracket should fit tight and flush..u must have the bracket flipped..post a pic

i drilled a 4 inch hole and through a piece of like plywood, and sat the fan on the top of the plywood over top of my box.... actually my box is separated by the ply wood into 2 separate areas, so i just put the fan on the top area of the box and run the ducting to the fan..

Ok guys i took some pics, basically I want to know if this is normal or if I screwed up somewhere...

I'm going to hang this fan vertically so the exhaust is pushing air straight up. I'm going to run some strong wire through the holes in the mounting brackets to hang. The holes are too small for paracord though (less than a quarter inch!) so I was thinking of using cable ties.

You see the gap between the brackets and the screws? Is this normal? I think the brackets will hold but I'm just wondering why it's like that.

You got a drill thats what i put mine together with if your drill has any torque it will slightly bend the metal of the bracket to curve with the contour of the fan i got an 8" and a 6" of the same fan both mounted using their bracket into 2x4 so far so good and pretty quite as well.
