Hydroponic Nutrients (home replacements and add ons)

Hello everyone, I can not beleave that i didnt pay attention to this part but i wanted to see if anyone had good experience with using home or cheap store bought products for hydroponics... specifically DWC.

The reason i bring this up is cause i added sugar to my DWC rez trying to save money Instead of buying carbo load. MY plants about died... im trying to bring them back but will see.

Basically it seems that the whole sugar and molasses works if you do dirt ...but if you add to your rez it will goo it up.

I hope this thread takes off and we can come up with a bunch of alternatives to buying expensive nutrients...

thanks to all in advance.

Well i guess it all depends if your selling or not. The complete line of advanced nutrients costs 450 $ .... i dont want to be a drug dealer... i just want to not spend money on it.

So just heard about this lucas technique.... i guess you only use general hydroponics bloom and micro and you get great results... proven by 1000's of people it says.....

Anything else?

This is so true, a $100 worth of nutes will grow $10,000 worth of crop. You could always piss in the reservoir for an extra shot of N. :)

100$ worth of what nutes? I use the AN line (videos shows that it outperforms all the major brands) and that is about 450 for what you need to protect the roots extra weight blah blah.. basically you have to buy it all to get the best of the best. So 450$ in nutes...and thats buying the small bottles at that ... max 2 grows on most of those.

Piss in my nutes? Would you piss in your kids drink if they made them taller?

hehehe ok ill piss in my shit if it works....hehehhe..

Is there some law where you're growing that makes it illegal to use part of a nutrient company's product line?

Would I use every thing AN makes if I could? Almost certainly. Does that mean I own them all? Not remotely.

You don't need everything, and most definitely you don't need everything all at once. Anything specific to flowering can be purchase when you're actually about to start flowering.

Personally, I'm going to start off with the base nutrients (haven't decided yet between Sensi 2-part and Grow/Micro/Bloom) and add in stuff as I can afford to and have interest to.

Will the guy with the entire hydro store in his closet grow bigger than me? Probably, if he does everything at least as well as I do. Does having the hydro store in your closet automatically grow bigger plants? Nope, not even a little bit.

Start simple. Learn the basics. Build on that.

I guarantee you that the guys at AN themselves would rather see you buy 3 things and be happy than buy 20 things and not.

Ya dude, just get a part A and part B, and get some additives for flowering, maybe BigBud and Overdrive. Start there. I haven't used Molasses in my rez, but i was thinking about trying it so im glad i read your experience, but did you just dump it in?? and did you measure it? I was going to pre-mix it with warm water in separate gallon jugs before mixing it in, try that?

yeah no dude... I mixed it very well in a 1 gallon jug. I did measure about 1 tablespoon per gallon some poeple said.. anyhow.. i just made sure there were no solids by the time i poored it in... Im telling ya man... i guess the sugar deal works for soil... but not for DWC...

think about it can u build ur own multivitamin? just use cheap stuff around ur house and mix up sumthing that has all ur vitamin and mineral needs in it?

sure if ur a sceintist

u can get close and stuff but it wont be the same wont be as good
nute companies have sceintists and stuff and know all the math and chemistry and stuff

its easy to feed in soil bcuz it already has stuff in it for the plants 2 eat but in hydro u have to give the plants everything in the rite amounts
how much zinc is enuf? how much calcium? most of those nasty cheap ferts dont even have micronutrients or have them in the wrong amounts

oh and sugar is bad in hydroponics because soil has microbes and stuff in it to fight the bad ones
hydro doesnt so u just get the bad stuff growing

just buy a 2 part, sugar peak is a good organic nute, and does have molasses in it.

flora nova 2 part is a good non organic.

neither of them costs more than 40$ for more than enough to get you through at least 1 cycle.

the people who grow to sell dont usually blow thousands of dollars on AN nutes, I know plenty of people who grow for the clubs, i don't know anyone that has used AN more than once.
