I was wondering more about what the metabolic byproducts are that make ph rise.
Billions of bacteria colonizing your reservoir anywhere they can find food and air supply eating, fucking, and shitting on each other...
Read a copy of “Teaming with Microbes”; I lack the vocabulary to give a proper answer...

so just let my tap water sit in a tote and that will take care of the chloramine and fluoride? Also is the air pump and sub pump absolutely necessary?
Hey bud. Chloramine will not evaporate if left out. Chlorine does, that's why many places switched to Chloramine because it is more stable. That said I run city tap water with Chloramine with no ill effects. I am in Coco so it is considered hydro but not DWC.

so I ended up using tap for about a week. Worked totally fine lol. Sucks that I spent 300$ on an RO system when I didn’t need it. I guess I’ll use it anyways and use tap for emergencies or when I’m lazy lol. Honestly tho idk why but the tap water was much more stable in terms of PH. Like so stable I thought my pen was broken lol. I think I may have adjusted my ph 3 times in 8 days.

Nice, I am super lucky. With my feed and tap water I come out to a perfect 6 every time. I have not had to adjust PH since I more than doubled their feed. I still check it every time but have not had to adjust. It's been great losing that step. RO also needs Calmag but with my tap water I have Calcium and just add Epsom Salts.

I used to use tap water in my hydro feeds, but got tired of always chasing ph, and didn't really like 200 mystery ppms in my water either. A small RO filter is only around $100, and worth it's weight in gold. I have a remineralization filter that I can add to the end of the RO filter for drinking water too. Mo more paying fifty-cents a gallon for drinking water.

Hi there, I'm using a coco setup with dry amendments and I chloramine in my tap with ppm around 195. Ive read both schools of thought on chloramine affect, but I like your point on consistency of ph. does this mean an RO system will alter the PH of my tap, which is around 9.2? Happy Friday

RO water will generally give you a neutral ph of 7.0.

Coco and dry amendments. Sounds like a winning setup. Pictures?

I’ll def do that. Just sprouted beans so I’m a bit away. Need to figure out this water situation for then they start drinking heavy. It’s the Gaia green setup with 25 percent ewc and coco
