Years ago I had a hydro system with 300 individual plants but could not reasonably expect to get anywhere near 1/2 lb. each......it was more like 2 oz.

Much depends on the type of system you're using. If grown in 5 gallon buckets, I guess 1/2 lb is possible with the right strain and I'd think enough light would be your main issue. The system I was using is no longer on the market (I'm talking 20 years ago now) and my biggest issue was keeping the water cool enough for healthy growth....... Persdonally I never liked growing hydroponically and have enjoyed much better success in pro-mix with Botanicare nutes.....

What are your specific questions?

If you are looking at moving to hydro for serious weight why would you decrease your light energy? That would seem to offset any gain that high availability of nutrients in the root zone might give you.

1/2 lb plant is not possible with only CFLs.

for that many plants and trying to get near what u want, at least 4000w and easily 6000w. i have run aero for years and only use my self built systems from clone to flower. current flower systems have 12 plants each and a 50gal res, i harvest every 3 weeks and average a little over 42oz per harvest. much does depend on genetics, i can do some strains and max out at 2-3oz while others will be 6-8oz. its a learning process and many are dissappointed for the first few harvests until u get stuff dialed in.

The problem is you are trying to switch multiple variables. That's tough. It's especially tough if you actually like to use the product you are producing (at least for me it is). So frankly if I were switching to hydro for my first time I'd keep it all dead simple. Now I'm only in the middle of my second grow so I'm very new to this. So I try to keep things pretty simple.

1/2 lb per plan on 60 plants...You wanna grow 30 lbs per harvest? Do you own a warehouse and have 50,000w of lighting? the only way you can pull plants that big in hydro is either RDWC, opr Undercurrent DWC, but 30 lbs. per harvest is a pretty ridiculous number for an indoor operation. Seriously, warehouse, 50,000 watts of lighting, and like 10,000 watts in cooling and ventilation.

Trolling much?
