<snip>I am using 3 airpumps (each with 2 outlets). Theyre pretty much just cheap airpumps from a hydro shop, I think they were 15 bux each. Each one controls 2 airstones. That way if one diaphram on the pump goes out, the other one will still be running... <snip>
I would pass up those crappy fish air pumps and get something like this...

It will power several stones with ease and last much longer.
This particular one only cost $45, the same you spent on 3 disposable pumps.

Except that pump is about 5 times as loud. I bought one and I could hear it in the other room....The disposable ones are silent....

I have had aquariums for years and never had problems with them.....Each one has 2 diaphrams so even if one diaphram goes out, i still have 5 more diaphrams pumping.

With that pump, if something goes wrong, you're fucked.

So between the loudness and the redundancy , I went with multiple cheaper pumps....

If noise were not an issue I would probably go with two of the pumps you mention. But I couldn't even stand the sound of one of them let alone two, so I went with disposable ones and returned that noise maker.

YMMV.

I got some really nice airstones, not sure the material...If I have time tomorrow, I will post up some pics to show you... They are huge and sink well to the bottom...ANd put out a lot of bubbles.

Always looking to improve things though, what brand are they?
