I can not cool this damn 400w

I need some opinions. I can not get this damn 400 w HPS cooled. I have made a DIY cooltube from pyrex and reducers, and have a stanley blower pulling through it. and 2 - 3" intakes with PC fan and a bildge blower pushing air in.

I think the problem is that I have too small of a grow space. 3.5 L x 3 H x 2 D . I have gutted a old deep freez . and i was going to veg in another working fridge. even tried putting it in there w the frige cranked. temps are high 80s through 100+ depending on where i take readings

I have read so much about how people get their tubes cool enough to handle with no problems. I figured that such a small space might work using LST.

what am i missing here. how can i cool this bastard. I am so frustrated with this now it is ridiculous.

is there some kind of ratio for intake was exhaust? like 4" exhaust = 2 - 4" intakes or something?

and do you think that would cool the tube / bulb better or adjust the ambient temps.

i think the intake should be as big or bigger than the exahust. yes that should help bring the temp down.

i used to grow with 2 x 600w in a room 4 feet high x 3 feet wide and 6 feet long 2 cool tubes on a 6" ruck fan. there is your problem not big enough pull on air over the bulbs to cool it fast enough.

I scored it for like 100 bucks so it was hard to say no. my other option is to do a full grow with the 250 - 300 w of cfls and flip it to those i know and trust for some extra bread and then go get one of these:

what would you do. I have put a lot of time in on that freeze box and on one hand i would hate to have done that for nothing but on the other hand if it isn't going to work i would hate to waste any more time on it

You need bigger fan and bigger intake.

VERY NICE .. the stanley blower is basically a 6" fan but i have it reduced to 4" bscause that is the dia. of my pyrex. it hink it is rated top speed at like 315 cfm or something.

or are you rehasing the idea that i need a bigger intake..which i agree with too

are you pulling air across your tubes from outside your cab or from inside through a carbon filter or something ?

iv had my 8" fan over 10 years and its never been off!

that set up is the same as mine, but i have it halfed off, a veg side and flower side. i can jam 8 6" pots per side

I have a bathroom exahust fan pushing air in 4" ducking about 30' all most no heat off the tube. Have it set to run inside the house and outside.

thats an old set up i used to have 2 flower rooms 1 on 1 off each room would be air cooled through a cool tube in to each other so when it was cool at night i would vent the hot air from the lights that were on in to the dark room to help keep it warm and vent the cold room back in to the room that the light was on to help the plants grow because plants give out co2 at night. in total i used 3 fans 2 x 6" to pull air over the bulbs in the cool tubes and 1 x 8" fan split over the to grow rooms to extract stale air. the 2 rooms used to produce well over a gram per watt, but iv had to move and started a new room up that i hope will do even better when i get it sorted.

i have a stupid question. 725m3 is cubic meters a minute? if i plug that into the conversion table i am getting Answer: 725 m³ = 25603.133 ft³ . something aint right with that picture

HAHA i was lucky my m8 had a grow shop and i had problems with cooling my room so he said take this (fucking 12" ruck fan) i take it home wire it up turn it on and my kids start crying! no shit m8 it souned like concord taking off! i took it up in the loft and could hear it out side in the day time! just think what that would sound like in the nite when cars aint passing!

to get away with that size fan i would need silencers and insulated ducting on both ends= cost more $$$

cut a hole somewhere and put a vent like the ones you have in your house for the ac and heat .they cost 5$

what i use to do is stop growing in the summer and grow like fuck in the winter my grow room up in the loft would be 6 x 6 1000 watt lamps on a jupiter light mover i would ony grow 3 crops and then shut down over summer tim and relax. i love grrowing and need plants around me all the time or i will get board so i brake it down to 3k all year round. althou im going to fuck indoor altogether and just grow outdoors! your grow room is only as big as your house- outdoors its only as strong as your back.- can you dig the holes? the way to go is grow shit outside iv been looking in to it over 20 years and it makes sense
