I don't get it. [giving plants names]

Hey guys,
I am kind of new here and I have seen a few threads where people were naming their cannabis plants, and to be honest to me, this seems kind of absurd or bizarre at best.

For example this one grower named his auto-flower "Rihanna" which is really odd, why would you give your plant a name, especially if it is one, which will be dead in 60 days :???: ? I imagine some people sitting in front of their grow tent with a "How to pick a name for your baby" guide xD

So help me understand, how do you build up a relationship like this?

I don't have a name book on hand. However to call her beautiful works for me.

I don't know I kind of feel bad for these plants because they have no legs to run away with. Can you imagine some of the torture some plants take? I guess it's better than torturing an animal because plants have no nervous system but I bet they are still freaked out, scared and sad. ;) Sometimes when a plant does really well I fall in love with it. I don't name it but I talk to it and encourage it! I call it baby and every so gently is my touches. I brighten up the lights for her to set the mood and I bring her to her favorite place to eat. I play music happy music in the background 24/7. Too bad about the short life span and no hands thing.

A good name for all your plants is "sexy looking plant". Then when you say, 'well hello you sexy looking plant you', none of the other plants get jealous.

I plan to have multiple harvests of the same strain, so in addition to naming them OGK1, OGK2, etc., I give them an additional 'code name'. My girl, OGK1 was code-named 'Olive' to help me remember the details of that grow mo' better. A friend brought me some rainwater in an Olive Oil jug and after a couple waterings i noticed it still had a layer of olive oil atop the water, ergo, Olive. It also helps when talking on the phone. ie.. "Hey man, Olive is showing her tits!"

That is why I do it.

An important tool for those who are still learning the art of growing

best to accept it, go with the flow, bonding is important

you already have made the first important move..lol

Amateurs/beginners might name plants. Serious growers don't.

BigSteve.
Most likely.
I am a rookie too and only have 2 plants going at any given time.
Serious growers have far too many plants to tend to for that i would think... If I had more than 2 i probably would not do it either and am subject to stop any time.

These are not big or fluffy. Strain is unknown.. More than likely a Chem-Skunk cross leans on the Sativa side.
