Hey folks -
Because I'm a big believer in mistakes being our best teachers, looking for you to post your past mistakes in outdoor grows that, hopefully, everyone can learn from.
Since I'm starting my first outdoor this year I don't have any YET!:-?
Would greatly appreciate hearing yours.
Thanks in advance!

Be wary of ph issues in local soil and in your fertilizer. I was using cottonseed meal in acidic swamp soil. Growth was stunted and slowed.

but Outdoors is Gods Gift......!!!!!!! Its all ready and right and waiting... When spring time hits you pop that sucker in the ground and watch Her GROW! Everything she needs is taken care of - the brightest and bestest of Lights - THE SUN
- and the biggest and bestest of Pots - THE EARTH!!!!!!!!
Et Voila! That is all you need... anything else is extra and no that necessary!
Indoors is where it gets complicated. My First Grow was outdoors and I let 9 plants just do their thing and when they looked slighty droopy I watered them! That was all....... that was it........ :) :) :)

Ill be trying my green thumb at outdoor as well this year I can't wait! A few years back though me and my old man. Were doing our routine came across a patch being crushed due to some sleepy moose so always be sure to put up even a small fence or chicken wire not to big if your guerilla growing.. Piss all over drop some bombs from time to time even get some liquid critter gaurd of some sort... Good idea on this thread though it should be usefull for those new to growing such as myself!
Happy growing!!

I always leave 2 litters around my grow filled with water so i can water them whenever need be.
Never had deer eat my bud.
I do however have problems with thieves.
First they snipped my top cola in half and got a whif, then they came back and stole the plants that was left out there because they were taking longer to finish.

My first year I chose spots and planted early, it was nice and sunny until June...then the tree leaves filled it and that sunny spot was gone for the year.

Ooops!

Yea, what I said was in response to leaving trash around the site.
I'm sorry masta it wont happen again. haha

To bad they don't fingerprint anything outside or else its considered misleading evidence.
In fact if something inside your home is dirty they cant fingerprint it, let alone something outside in the dirt.

My first grow, bagseed from either mids, or reggie (shwag) whatever you wanna call it, i wanted to train myself the first grow season. I swear, buying seeds are soo much better, the seeds will grow better and you will have more of a chance of them surviving and growing into a good yield, i finally got 2 started, 1 got to a certain height, like 1 foot, and it stopped growing taller, then my successful one (reaching about 6-6 1/2 feet) had about a qp to half pound on her, So as you know any adolescent or teen growing up, has lots of friends in high school, you know they grow a plant for the first time and get excited about it, well i fucked up and told too many people, even showed a good amount of people where the plant was, problem is, this town has a stupid amount of fake or shady people, most of the people are good friends so they wernt tryna steal it from it, i was going to smoke a lot of it with them. but there was one dumbass kid, that had to take some, i topped my plant when it was around 3 feet, and it grew about another 3 feet wit the 2 colas in stead of 1, so the plants main stalks looked like a "Y" well his dumbass went back there a night, and obviously tryed to cut the thick branches with some cheap dull ass knife. and split the two colas right where it formed the "Y" so the main stalk was split down the middle. he ended up taking one of the topped colas, leaving me with one, took another branch under that, then another under that. about 1/3 or more of the plant. so i doctored it up and let it grow a week or 2 before cutting it down, fearing he would come back and take the rest of it, i planted in the beginning of june, and harvested like the second or third week of september. The buds didnt get to reach their full potential or get to fill out as much as they could of, or the finished buds would have broken down into more. I've learned a lot from my first season, it was fun, rough, and exciting. You'd be amazed at how many things you learn from it. There are some things i did wrong here and there, but as you go on, you can even more perfect how you do those kinds of things. With time, mistakes, and dicipline comes virtue and success in the end. Keep your friends by your side, But even closer..your foes. I slipped and left a witness. But ill be damned if i make that same mistake this year, more precautions are being taken and more plans are being made before i approach things. I still got some pictures of the plant, forget when i took them, but it was obviously before ol' dude took my shit.

I had some questions though, Living in the suburbs/outskirts of suburbs. What would be a safe number of plants to grow? i dont want to grow a plantation, but i do want more than just one this year. Also, last year i didnt really have a problem with bugs, you know, i'd see a white fly here and there, but i would just flick them off, after a while they went away and i didnt have any other bugs. if i grew more plants, say 5 or 7, how much harder or worse would the bugs be. im not planning on growing all in one spot, maybe throw 2 or 3 plants in one area, and plant 2 or 3 in another area, so if i do have some nosey person wanting free weed, they dont get all of it.

sounds like you are on the right track. 2-3 per patch dont think your bug situation will be much different unless this unseasonable warm weather causes more to survive the winter.

A few years ago I was growing some plants that I thought to be nonchalant on my mothers property. They were plotted beside a bunch of wild mint and tomato plants. After a family bbq I was shortly noted by my mother that I must "Cut the Cannabis plants down!" in front of her. I cut the four 4-5ft healthy flowering beauty's down... I didn't know pain could come so sharp from an incident like that. In the end it's just a plant. However, being that close to the girls everyday and really taking a keen approach in raising them, you love em. I had the healthiest plants. It was a sad thing. My brother was the one that spotted them. He is an 'urban organic farmer'... pshhh He asked me what they were and I told him, "Ornamental ferns!" He then said, "bullshit, they stink." LOL
