Okay, im in no way shape or form new to growing.... and ive made hash via from my weed grinder... But im a little confused on how to make hash from the leaves and smaller buds...

Ive been to the FAQs, been on youtube, and anything else that talks of it... But there has to be a better way than mixing in a blender with ice and alcohol!!! thats basically the method everyone is going for... any "safer" homeade recipes that dont require me blowing something up?

I'd love to use bubble bags... but i may have problems due to the fact that i dont have any...

Any advice is well appreciated... someone please help me, before i do something crazy with these leaves... like make a salad perhaps??? :blsmoke:

heres a pic of where the leaves just came from

The most easy way I've seen on how to make hash is to just blend the leaves/cutting's and then work them on a mesh screen for about an hour, then press what came through into the plastic from a box of smokes. Wrap this in paper and soak with water then heat in the oven. Take it out and press it then cool in the fridge, and un-wrap!!! Easy freekin peasy!!!

Of course Ive never tried this, and Im only on my first grow so what the fuck would I know!!!

although Like I said, first grow, so what the fuck would I know!!!!!!

Whats this

I don't know man. I've read that a good piece of silk would work. You could get that in any fabric store or maybe a craft shop of some kind. You'd have nothing to lose if it didn't work. actually you might even get a good fine mesh screen in a craft store.

Yeah man I wathced a vid on youtube there, it say's a silk screen, the type used for printing t-shirts, so deffinately a fucking arts and crafts store!! Although you will probobly have to build a little wooden frame for yourself.

The purpose of Bubblebags it to give you a few different grades of bubblehash. I recently purchased a set and was not impressed with the outcome so I went back to my old method.

Here's what I do:

1. Take a 5 gallon bucket, fill it about 1/3 or the way full of trimmings/popcorn buds. I add a 10lb bag of ice and about 2 gallons of water.

2. I mix everything for 20 minutes (non stop) with a drill and paint mixer.

3. I pour the mixture through a kitchen strainer to get almost all of the big leaves.

4. Then I pour it through one of those gold coffee filters (the permanent ones) to get that last few bits of leaf.

5. I let the mixture settle overnight. DO NOT SHAKE THE MIX AT ALL.

6. I use one of those $10.00 drill pumps to siphon off the top 2/3 of water.

7. I pour the remaining 1/3 in to 2 clear plastic pitchers (so you can see the outcome) and again let them settle overnight.

8. The following day you should see all the trichs at the bottom of the plastic pitchers. It looks almost like sand.

9. I again siphon off almost all of the solution using the drill pump. When I get within 1" of the trichs (again, DO NOT disturb what has settled) I use a plastic turkey baster to get as much liquid off as I can.

10. I pour the remaining "trich soup" (just a few oz of liquid)in my $50.00 Walmart food dehydrator. Those things come with a plastic pan (in addition to the drying screens) so you can make fruit roll-ups by spreading grape jelly on the pan and drying it out. Little did they know it works GREAT for hash too. :hump:

11. As the mixture begins to evaporate I use a razor and scrape the mush in to a pile. Eventually I end up with a nice chunk of hash.

Warning: Pay attention to the dehydration process. If you don't scrape it in to a pile as it dries it'll get stuck to the whole plastic pan and you'll play hell scraping it up.

Oh, that dehydrator comes in handy at harvest time if you want a little something to smoke while your buds are drying/curing too.

Lastly...this procedure doesn't give you different "grades" like the bubble bags do but the hash still kicks ass.

Good Luck!

That sir... is the most informative hash making lesson ive read thus far.. i like it... rep+

Only a few concerns:

first off, i dont own half the things you mentioned, so im looking for improvisions... I dont have many leaves (about 1/3 of a brown grocery bag full)

Instead of mixing with a paint mixer, will a bat work or small shovel work if i put a little more elbow grease into it???

For 10 bucks, i think that drill siphon thing (please explain what this is by the way) is worth it.. kinda of fuzzy on what your actually doing to the mix

and whats the best way to finish without that dehydrator (i take it that is one of those storage bag thingys that help keep food fresh???)

I really like that method... easy and practical..

Ok... you can mix with anything you want. I just find it easier to do it electrically. Borrow an electric mixer from a girlfriend if you need to. :hump: The important thing is to make sure there is still ice at the end of the 20 min and that you agitate it the whole time.. Add more ice if necessary.

The bottom line is that you're freezing the trichs and getting them to fall off. They will sink after time. After the first 24 hr settling period you'll be trying to get the water off the top of the sediment without disturbing the sediment. It's easy if you have a electric pump rather than trying to siphon the liquid off the top with a turkey baster.....it would take you 2 days.. That 10 buck pump os something you can get at Home Depot. It fits in a drill and had an inlet and outlet connection. Those connections are made for a garden hose but that would be too big. GO to the plumbing fitting aisle in HD and look for an adapter which has a hose barb (made for 3/8 or 1/2 hose) on one end and a female hose connector on the other. That will allow you to connect a smaller plastic hose to the pump rather than a garden hose. I tape the suction hose to a wooden spoon (so it's rigid) and I can easily control how far I immerse it in the bucket in my attempt to suck off the water. I'm sucking up ONLY green water....no "sand" (trichs) off the bottom. Then I pour the remaining stuff in to a CLEAR plastic pitcher so THIS TIME I'll be able to view the sediment through the plastic. Again, wait 24 hrs for the trichs to settle. The whole purpose of this is to get as many trichs with as little water as possible. So...you pump out the majority using the drill, and you finish up with a turkey baster (which doesn't suck quite as strongly). Point is...get as much water off the top of the trichs without disturbing the sandy looking stuff on the bottom. The only reason I start with a 5 gallon bucket is that I probably have it 1/2 full with leaves and popcorn buds. BUT...I can't see through the bucket so I added a step by siphoning off most of the water from the bucket and then pouring it in to plastic pitchers that I can see through. Once you have this sandy soup you'll pour it on the dehydrator tray.

The food dehydrator is NOT a bag sealer. It's a round device with a heater, fan and about 4-5 shelves inside. You stack and dry food, fruit, meat, etc. on the shelves. Make sure it comes with a plastic tray to make "fruit roll-ups" since that's what you'll need for hash. The tray goes on the top of the top shelf. The problem with those trays is that they don't have very high sides so you can't pour a lot of liquid on them. That's why I try to get as much of the water out of the "soup" as possible. When I make the final pour from the pitcher to the tray I don't want it so full that it runs over the side of the tray. You'll always end up with a cup or so of water since you can't disturb the sandy sediment(trichs).

Hope this helps! If not, I'll post pics.

You know those little bath gift sets? With lotion, soap, etc...that come in a box with a lid made of a wire frame and mesh? Maybe that would work...its what I'm gonna try.

i got some leaves from a friend a couple of month ago, i got 2 shopping bags about half full and tried 2 different ways,

first i tried it through a mesh screen, i went to the local material shop and bought a meter of thin netting for 50p/bout $1 and mounted it to a A4 picture frame i had laying around then i put a hand full of semi dry leaves on the screen and worked it through for about 10-15 mins onto a clean mirror, then repeated untill the bag had gone, it took about 2 hour, i got a nice smoking powder of thc

then with the second bag, because the first had taken way too long! i bought a can of butane (lighter gas) for £1 bout $2 then at the pluming center i bought a meter of half inch thick plastic pipe and 1 end cap for £2, $4
THC disolves in butane gas and the butane evaperates hence leaving just THC,
so i cut the pipe in half and put some of the netting i had left from previous over the end, i put a small hole in the cap and pushed one of the lighter refill adaptors that came with the gas through the hole,
fill the pipe with leaves, then replace the cap and squirt gas threw it, aim it over a bowl and youll catch a THC and butane mixture, the butane will evapurate in about 30mins and youve got pure thc in a bowl! i thought this was the best way but be carefull, do it outside!

Peace

if you then want to turn the powder into a bar you can put it into a thick plastic bag, plastic that comes on a cig packet is perfect, then squeeze it all down to the bottom of the bag, and tape it up then wrap paper round it and tape that, then drench it in water and put it in the cooker on medium heat for 5 mins, take it out and run a rolling pin over it, or you could put a book ontop of it and sit on it, just some thing to compress it,
then put it back in the oven for another 5, take it out compress it again, then remove the paper it should be a nice light brown but not powder like
if its still powder put some more paper over it, wet it and stick it back in for 5, compress it again, should be ok by now!
hope this helps..

See my thing is.. thats just like the alcohol method...

Im no physics major or nuttin, but won't i be inhaling butane even after it evaporates? It just sounds too risky... :-|
