I got issues...

Hey all,

Consider this my introduction and my first information request.

I will retire soon and want to get back into recreational use after a 28 year abstinance. I want to grow only for my own use, and I've recently been doing some research. I am at the same time impressed and confused by all the different strains out there.

I thought I could sort it out myself, but it's becoming obvious I can't do this with out asking some questions. I think I've chosen this forum wisely, and hope you folks will help me out.

I want to stay busy and feel good and be easy going and not feel confused or introverted or paranoid or anxious. I want to feel like doing things but I don't want to forget why I walked into a room, or wonder what direction I wanted to go after I stop at a 4 way stop intersection. I want to sleep well and have some relief from sciatica and my old knees.

Too much to ask? Maybe, but if any bunch of people would know what I should be growing I feel it is this group. Help an old head get back in the saddle.

Some good strains you'd like. Blueberry, Jillybean, Bubblegum, Purple Erkle hybrids and other exotic purps, Bubba kush, man too many lol

Too many, too many

I wish I could hit them all. Jillybean sounds interesting, and I've read some interesting things about Master Kush.

I think I'm leaning towards the Sativa side of the fence.

I think the Canadian is relating to my request here too and wants the same answer. Maybe there's some like minded soul on here that has done the "research", and has found one good strain that fits the bill as outlined by me in my first post.

At first have 2 figure out what kind of high u like more..SATIVA-heady-can make ur mind go on trips and STILL be able 2 do things..some SATIVA will make u really happy..like smiling etc..INDICA-body stone u STILL CAN do things but not very many..but this is used more medically it can stop pain and put u out after a couple puffs...NOW go over the strains u like and see which one fits your needs the best..
p.s. although u can grow indicas 2 give u a sativa effect and vice versa..but its still almost a general guidline

reading your intro was deja vu, my story is the same but been growing for about 1 1/2 years
so some experience, but not near as much as others here
i understand exactly where you're coming from, and i have very similar wants
you might want to read up on Cali-O, not super strong, but many seem to find it nice
my 1st grow of it was a male(i do micro grows, just a few plants), so can't give a smoke report

Ha! I KNEW I was touching on a subject that just had to be in the back of the minds of many old coots like me out here. Thanks for the input growone I'll check it out.

Maybe there should be an old coots corner around here. We can talk shit and swap lies around the wood stove... maybe.

Trichome development has a lot to do with what type of high you get also , or state of trichomes rather. Its common knowledge that you harvest when trichomes turn milky for a more energetic high and we wait till some trichomes become amber if we are looking for the couchlock high. Personally I went for couchlock on my first grow (see incomplete journal below). I grew 4 strains ( white widow, big bud, og kush and euphoria unlimited) and of the 4 I really like the euphoria unlimited but those are a hard to get strain (wish I'd have taken cutting now, gonna have to drive north about an hour to get euphoria clones). Good luck with your grow.

there are threads for just that, plenty of us around, best of luck on the grow
and like dbkick says, the harvest time can change things considerable
probably best to go a little longer on ripening than earlier
the too many clear trichomes can be the more negative of MJ experiences
you may get sleep weed if you go to long, but that can be good stuff for the end of the day, usually better for the chronic aches and pains

Right you are! I would say greencrack is a favorite that has brought me to that next level of awareness. Another that has found my heart on a harder hitting stone is the hippies headband and also cali orange as another has said! Some of the kindest sourdeisels will also have this effect.

(Dont buy the greencrack seeds as they are not as elite as the clones you will find or a bag of true greencrack you find some seeds in.)

Ya see? Shows how much I know. I just started a thread with a big long post asking to describe highs, and here it is that within one strain many things about the buzz can be different. I have much to learn.

So, if I got you folks right - clear trichomes (how do you pronounce that anyway?) is bad MJ experience elevator, milky trichomes is energetic and increasing number of amber trichomes leads to more and more couchlock.

It's looking more and more like there might be one strain out there that I might be able to alter harvesting times to achieve both daytime and nighttime products I'm looking for. Gawd! there's so many of them.

Blueberry, jillybean, bubblegum, purple urkle, bubba kush, northern light #5, cali-o, euphoria unlimited, green crack, hippies headband and Kind sourdiesel. Relatively speaking a short list, but it doesn't feel like it. Based on my original description and harvesting early and late can any one eliminate a few from the list? Here's what I wrote in my original post:

"I want to stay busy and feel good and be easy going and not feel confused or introverted or paranoid or anxious. I want to feel like doing things but I don't want to forget why I walked into a room, or wonder what direction I wanted to go after I stop at a 4 way stop intersection. I look for the same qualities in the high that you do, and I have always had a preference for sativas. Unfortunately, not enough breeders do testing, but if you can find CBD content, I personally like high TCH levels with low CBD levels. Hazes have always been my favorite stones, but can be more temperamental to grow (and longer).

welcome to the strain maze, it's good news/bad news - good in that there are so many with so many effects, bad in having to wade through them all
and i may have been a bit negative with the clear trichome warning
when you harvest, you will likely have a mixture of colors, clear, milky, amber, and there are others
it's if you harvest with too many clear, you may not get a very good product, kind of like a green apple
too many clear trichomes is associated with a possible paranoid, nervous, anxious effects
but it's not so cut and dried, each strain has it's own quirks, some can have more clear than others but still be a nice medicine
