I got itchy

I've read numerous posts on a few sites about how windowsill growing is poor at best. But I'm itchy, and what the heck, it's only one seed. I ordered 5 Green-O-Matic and got two freebies, one auto Sweet Mango and one Critical Jack Herrer, everything femmed. Maybe not a great choice overall, but I want a quick harvest and in my planned concealed in the veggie garden grow a quick harvest could reduce chances of getting busted.

I had only one little peat disc. It was about 2 inches across and about 1/4” thick. I pried at the center and the thing is pretty tough. I partially tore back the netting on it. I managed to dislodge a few flecks and tuck in a G.O.M seed. I warmed a quarter inch of distilled water in a cereal bowl, dropped the seeded disc in and checked it five minutes later. The thing had swelled like a pregnant pup! It got about 2.5” inches tall with a fracture down the side that had the worst netting tear.

Next trip to town I'll be getting some pearlite or potting soil. I might mix that half and half with garden soil. I read that soda bottles let in light that isn't good for roots. I have a plastic coffee “can” that is square-ish. It should sit nicely on my wide window sills. I will poke holes in it.

I live at 39 degrees north latitude in the middle of the USA. With no nearby large bodies of water temperatures can and do vary widely and unpredictably. If this girl spends any nights outdoors it'll be near the end of her short life. There will be days when she can be outside for all or part of the day and some she can't.

I don't expect good smoke out of this or much of it. I've smoked less than a half ounce in the last 12years. My standard of comparison is $40 an oz weed from 1982. Comments or suggestions are welcome, but there's no guarantee I'll follow good advice. ;)

Gotta add some extra light at this time of year. One or two 23w CFL's would do for now.

Have fun and good luck

Nothing wrong with trying to grow on your sill, good luck. Next time don't cut the puck's netting just put it in water to re-hydrate, then put in the seed.

You will benefit from more light as the previous poster mentioned. If you look on the net you can find 100 watt CFL's for around 20 bucks. I'd really recommend one. Be careful and look for a regular base but if you only find a mogul base you can pick up a mogul socket for roughly 10 bucks at the local big box store.

Best of luck on your grow and welcome to RIU
