i have a 32 quart cooler with a car adapter to cool it down 40 degrees below room temp. or i can flip the chord and get a warmer. if i was to grow weed in said cooler, would it be advantageous to splice a cell phone charger in so i could use the warmer to keep my plants warm?

You can use a 'car fridge' or 'car freezer' as a cooling reservoir.
I use 2 of them, they cost around $50 AUD each and hold 20 liters each.
When I first started aero, temps were too high due to the submersible pump.
Changed to inline pump, worked great but being fussy and wanting to hold it at between 70 - 72f, I added in aquarium heaters.

I see the aero guys constantly going on about chillers and the big price tag attached, but it is much cheaper and effective to lower the temp and then bring it up with a heater instead of just a straight out $$$ chiller.

I probably should speak up lol

As for the fact that it is 12v or 9v designed for a car lighter doesn't matter. You can find plenty of adaptors on Fleabay and shops with up to five points that can plug directly into your wall socket. And also with a few extra sockets, you can wire in low voltage computer fans that are very effective and cut a couple of bucks off your power bill instead of inline fans =)

Good luck!
Jimmy.

unless you want to yield an 1/8th to a 1/4, you should really try to find a better spot to grow in....
ps fridges have no ventilation

I understand your idea and i have looked at some fridge grows but your going to have to make some holes for venting. If you have heat in there (lights) its going to keep that heat and im not sure if it would properly cool it. Have you tried putting a light in there with it on and checking the temp after awhile?

Umm... I think my statement was misinterpreted or I misunderstood the question...?
To the original poster... are you talking about using a car fridge as a reservoir or using it as some kind of complete grow chamber?

Using it as a direct reservoir (ie. growing plants down through the lid) is not ideal. Part of the reason it can successfully hold temps is that it sealed.
