Hi all. Well I have a grow room that is umm 5x6x8 I believe. I can check those measurements tomorrow morning. Anyways I have one 400 watt HPS/MHD light. Now my lovely wife has agreed to buy me two more lights. My babies are in 4th week vegging and I was wondering. Should I get 400 watt HPS or should I go 600 scince the wife has given the ok to buy? Would the 600 make a difference? Heat is not a problem I have well controlled humidity temp and air flow.

I realy have no one else I can ask these things to except for my friends here. Thanks for all your patience. Soon I will be able to trust myself and just grow. lol anyways I just wanted to ask. I have transplanted my babies and I definetely need a few lights. Once this all gets done I will use the 400 watt HPS/MHD for the mother plants I plan on cloning from.

well thats my question thnx to all who respond~

sounds like you have every thing under control. get the 600 it will help in harvest. the 400 you have now will work well for a mother & clones
gl on your grow. i would do a test run on the new light's temp in your grow room

funny. i did read it. i even scanned it a second time to make sure. guess i am high. go 600. put 2 on light movers. run them the 6 foot length side-by-side. i hav a 3 x 6 x 6 that i have a single 600 in at the moment. i am only using 3 x 3 of it. this winter i will add a light mover and double my size while keeping the same amount of light. i will throw up a light mover and turn it into 3 x 6 of flower space.

hmmm good idea are the light movers easy to install? And why not just go 2 600 watt? instead of the one I mean I have the funds ?

i've never used one but from what i've seen it is just a rail with a hook for your light. there is a small motor that moves the light from one end of the rail to the other. it should just screw to the ceiling. i think the speed is adjustable. i think 5 feet is just a little to wide of coverage for a single 600. you would need 2 for that amount of space. with the size of the room it sounds like 2 on a mover might work out nice.

yeah well I thinik I can bypass a mover and just throw two or three in there. No need to move them . And I have a climate control you wouldnt believe.

You ever have your babies freak out on you after you transplant?.....because mine are and it hurts my feelings~

sounds like you got it covered. everyone laughs at me. i've had plants wilt for a day or so after transplant but that was long ago.

hey pj, i use tube floro's, 20'' above the moms, or a single 23w cfl per mother. moms need very little light, just like clones. you want them to stretch a little.

... just another idea... in that space what about a 1000w hps on one of the circular light movers?

that'd give you intense lumen output and with your climate control and the light mover won't have to worry about burning your plants much... you could get that thing pretty close to your plants then...

i dunno, maybe just something else to think about

best of luck pj!

i'm not so sure about the effectiveness of a mover; one would think you get better lighing from a stationary light, with good spread, that you would by keeping it closer and having it on a mover. movers leave some of the plants in shadow at times.... i like parabolic hoods.

pj, if i could do what i wanted in that closet, i'd go with two 600w, air cooled.

i thought one o fthe benefits of the mover though was that you got light pentration from differnet angles... thus providing for a more full plant...

i dunno am i wrong on that?

nope, you're right. but let me ask you this...

those different angles are only being covered for minutes at a time. what kind of ill effect would that have as opposed to the "sun" being right over head all day?

hmmm... good point..

thats why you go with a thousy stationary in the middle
and a 600 on the circular light mover going around it...

=] lol

First of all hello Ian and KP good to hear from you. Now I was thinking two 600 and I have an air conditioner that is in the wall about light level, and two like tornado fans under my grow tables if you will. They are like grids so air passes through. Why dont I go take some pics and show you two what we are working in with, hit a bowl load and then we can try to fix this room together?

let a little home boy know!~
