I need halp with my wax consistency

Ok. So here's the deal. I've been successful at making budder. But I'm having a problem refining it into a waxy consistency. After vacuum purging it has turned into what I can only describe as styrofoam ice cream.

The only thing I've been able to do to make it not do this is put it in a toaster oven on low heat for 2-3 minutes and then re-purge it. At this point it turns into something that resembled petrified stale honey.

So wtf? What am I doing wrong. Halp a noob out.

Lol @ styrofoam icecream...i thought it kinda resembles pork rinds too sometimes..depends on how hard it is...i think a few things..

1-need to make sure your stuff is molten or as close as possible when vacuuming..
Mine does this too, but when it cools down to much or fast it can get stuck like that...when this happens, what i do is put it back on some heat or hot water bath,,,then itll melt back down, then vac again...keep doing this til it doesnt puff up anymore...then it will be like a "sap"

the petrified honey is almost to the end i believe...
Now once you have this "sap" it should be basically transparent and sappy....now you take this and add some heat from below and start whipping...it will slowly start to turn from clear to more gold then it will start to go opaque..then it will be more buddery...you can continue stirring until it is a fully whipped budder, but still soft to touch...
No to get it from budder to wax it needs to be dried out...there are several ways you can do this...
Easiest is prob just leaving in a pile or dish over night...it will harden up sometimes not much sometimes completely solid, and many in bewtween..this is strain dependant and also depends on how long you whipped and heated it and if you decarbed it or not..

Another easy way would be after you get the budder, take your glass dish, spread the budder even and thin, then put it on a heating pad of some kind for a while til it all dries..then scrape it up..walla you have flake wax..compress it and walla you got wax ball..
Now this is general guidelines..many strains vary on many things, and the age of the flowers has a lot to do as well...
I also really only use top notch or at least decent flowers, so im not sure, but im pretty confident this is accurate for trim as well...i have made trim wax, just been a while..

Hope this helps, ask any questions you like..
Heres some of my flake wax and some other wax swim made using same process just explained..

The bowl is after blow but pre whip..
The flake wax would be after scrape...then the chunk of wax would be after pressing it into a ball...the budder is what it would stay like if you put it into a container and dont allow it to dry out totally...it will stay like budder in a container...that state is after vaccing and adding some heat and whipping..

SEE THE BOWL WOULDVE HAD THE ICECREAM PUFF WHEN IT FIRST WENT INTO THE VAC CHAMBER, THEN IT PUFFED UP ALL CRAZY AND I POPPED IT BACK INTO A HOT WATER BATH...THEN VACUUM AGAIN, THEN WHEN I PULLED IT OUT IT WOULDVE BEEN MORE LIKE PETRIFIED HONEY..ALMOST DONE, REWARM IN HOT WATER, THEN REVACUUM...NOW WHEN DONE IT SHOULD RESEMBLE SAP LIKE THE PIC..

I tried what you said and it basically just turned into an opaque shatter. Doesn't seem like this will go to wax. It seems to want to be in a more crystal form.

ZOMGWTF!!!! I think it worked! I have achieved wax!

This is the same stuff from the dish of "petrified stale honey"

After nearly giving up and deciding I'm never going to achieve that desirable texture, I stuck it back in the toaster oven for ~4-5 minutes. When I took it out, I stuck my whipping tool in it and pushed it around to check the consistency and it's legit wax! Thx for your halp guise! It now has the exact texture as the shit in the dispensary that sells for $60 a gram!

That all sounded like bullshit to me when I first read it. It contradicted a lot of other info I had read. But it turns out everyone else was wrong and you were right! Ty ty. +rep

I agree with you. I too prefer shatter to wax. I like shatter because IMO it holds it's flavor longer and it is easier for me to dab. The wax always falls off my dabber!

But wax is what is in demand, so wax is what I will make.

That was me....
I posted several ways one can go about making wax, but saw that you found a solution right after I posted.
Not being a personal fan of wax, and given that you had a solution, decided it was best to zap the post.

But with that said, if we want to start a discussion about wax vs sap, I'm game... just didn't want to derail your thread :)

jesus...thanks man. tell that to the morons on jokecity who advised i should accept the help they were trying to give me..things like "curing concentrates is obsolete" (thats one of my all time faves..lol) .its like ..i know that i know what im doing, cuz i do it every day...but to hear it worked for someone else, especially after they went and were subjected to a bunch of bullshit somewhere else, THAT makes me smile...thats why i even post on these damn things, to TRY and give back what i was freely given (and had to piece together like a mofo til my lady thought i was crazy reading forums so much)
but then you get some little bitch moderator who thinks he knows something, and then some other lame trying to tell you how to do it, when hes using a 5 inch turkey baster (no offense to sstb users) and blowing shwak trim...
people can pretty much take to the bank if i post it ive done it, and continue to use the tek in my cons that are c cup quality...so basically, im not a necktalker, nor will i tell someone to do something im not still doing or moved past myself..
people say but why would you share that info, and the reason is even if i show someone, there is no replacement for using good buds, and most people dont do it..you can make an apple pie out of apple cores, but it aint gonna taste as good...you feel me?
and for those that DO blow top shelf, great, im sure we could learn a few things from each other...

keep on keepin on, and of course ask any other ?S and ill be happy to try and help...
i wish dreamtime wouldve not erased post, i love seeing and do continue to read a whole lot...the day you stop learning is the day you are a fool...

check the super cool pic of the blown sap in a bowl...looks like some magic shit! looks like some little solar system in the middle or something..really thoguht it came out sick..

That muffin in the first picture looks how BHO should while it's being vaccumed. Are you using enough heat while you vaccum? And you say wax is in demand...you don't plan on selling this do you?

I've been unable to replicate my wax results. Instead it all just seems to turn into semi-waxy peanut butter consistency. Any suggestions?

I personally stay away from the peanut butter texture as I feel this happens a lot with huge runs. I am not sure why exactly, but I can say it doesn't seem finished yet. Is this the stuff you said you vacc'ed like 8 times?
