I need help pronto!

My plants have been growing in my closet for almost a month now. I am having problems and I REALLY NEED HELP.

The tips of the leaves on my plants are turning brown on the tips and light green around the brown tips. It isn't really bad, but, it makes me very nervous. Since, as any grower knows, you take care of your plants like you take care of your children.

I am using Miracle Grow for fertilizer, I water them once every like...3....4 days. They sit under 24-hour light, under two 40w soft white bulbs. (Since I've been told marijuana plants prefer red light rays when growing. <true??>)

The growth on the plants seemed to stop for a couple of days, so, I transplanted them into 5 gallon buckets.

My questions are as follows:

What is going on with my leaves??

Is Miracle grow a suitable fertilizer, and are there any suggestions??

Is pruning the smaller, lower leaves a good idea?

PLEASE HELP!!

your burning them with that MG junk. Go organic and never worry about that again. Go to the organics forum and learn how to build and feed your soil and then your soil will feed your plants. Mother Nature doesn't dump heaps of fertilizers on her plants so why do we?

I get that when my cfl's are too close to the leaves, normally touching, but I use 23 watt soft white cfl's for flower x10 for 2 plants... I would recommend bright white for your veg. cycle. I use 26 watt bright whites x6 for 2 plants and mother. I am currently using miracle grow on one of my plants(ran out of foxfarm). It is doing just as well, but it is easy to over fertilize...

Alright, i'll be more careful with it. it's just so hard, I watch them grow and I just want them to bud so badly that I might tend to over fertilize.

You guys are great!

what about pruning??? Is that something that might be a good idea?

lol they are stressed to hell. Transplanting sick plants is not a good thing to do. raise your seed in seedling mix or jiffy’s then once they are big enough then transplant you will lean after a few mistakes but your learn from your mistakes DONT GET STRESSED remember its a hobby so have fun

lol yeah as in the real bright invisable stuff that lets you see.??
miracle grow sucks, my last grow i was using miracle grow and it hampered more than helped. so i switched to using promix soil mix, i added wormcastings, and im using fox farm grow big in veg and tiger bloom in flower....that stuff works miracles. im also using superthrive, i had 3 foot plants in 4 weeks in 2 gallon bags.

these are all good suggestions but you cant change the soil your plants are in right now. If it were me I would definitely flush the plants if you have been using the MG crap. is it the green granular stuff that comes in the small square box with measuring spoon? that stuff doesnt dissolve well at all and furthermore will block good nutes from reaching the plants if left alone. you said you moved them to five gallons? make sure you have a LOT of holes drilled in the bottom, get your tap water running at room temps, and run 3 times as much water through the bucket as the amount of soil it will hold. when you add the water do it slowly or your soil will start pouring over the top of bucket. I have had the most success doing this in my bathtub. primarily so the water that drains from the bottom of bucket goes into the drain and not on the floor. you will be able to see the water that runs through change from dodo brown to clear after a few gallons. after the flush make sure to drain all excess water. the last thing a stressed plant needs is root rot. after about two weeks from flush I would start a new nute schedule. any of the nutes mentioned by the other members are all nice (when used in moderation) and do remember that if it all goes to shit, there's always more pot seeds on this great planet! a wise man learns from his mistakes, but an even wiser man learns from the mistakes of others

oh and regarding light, red spectrum is most beneficial during blooming phase. if used in vegetative stage, red spectrum can cause extra males and even hermaphrodites (know from experience) if you are in veg or seedling stage(anywhere from 1 to 12 weeks old) I would use something with a blue spectrum. blue helps with veg growth and helps make more females. i recommend a metal halide or a few good cfl's of the right spectrum. I use metal halide but times are tight and that shit aint cheap! oh yeah, just my opinion but next time you might want to consider a light cycle with a few hours a day off. 24 hours of light a day will work, don't get me wrong, but I believe it to be a little hard on the plants. would you feel like crap if you didnt get to sleep for 2 months? I wouldnt reccomend switching the light cycle now though because doing so in almost any amount from a 24 hour on cycle will induce flowering early and it sounds like these things need to perk up before they start putting on weight. hope this helps ya man

I will do that tommorow. I'll drill the holes and try to flush them out.

How close should my plants be to the light??? They are a little over a foot tall and about 5 feet from the fluorescent lights.

I really want these plants to thrive...

What nutes do you suggest???

5 feet? do you have a good thermometer? if you are using flouro tubes and not cfl's then I would definitely move those flouros as close as possible to the plant without the temps going over 85 degrees F. sometimes in flouro grows the lights have to get so close to the plant they can burn some of the bigger fan leaves but that is the price to pay for economy and bigger buds. as far as nutes go, I use general hydroponics flora, micro and bloom three pack. about 10 bucks a bottle or 30 bucks for the three pack. they are hydro nutrients but if used at, say, half to quarter strength that the bottles say and water on a two to one basis (two waterings with regular water and the one with water with nutes) you will see improvement.

Actually, I have the plants 5 feet from the fleuros. I do have a shop light (those ones with the silver thing around it.) about two feet from them to keep them warm. They seem to be adjusting to the transplant, but one of them is a little over 14" tall, and the leaves are still a little droopy. I am gonig to do what you said about the buckets today. I'll flush them out. Now, to mention it, they kind of all look alittle droopy, except for one.

Thanks for the help, by the way.

Where can I ge those nutes???? I don't have too much money and I don't have a SERIOUS like....pot shop around here.
