I have never grown them indoors.Roses are heavy feeders and like well drained soil.Organic ferts are the best and will help with bug problems.Pests will be a problem, bugs love roses.OPH

What kind of Roses?

Any Rose bush needs A LOT of light also, so prepare yourself for a pricey electricity bill.

the real question is why indoors?
there are so many types thousands really. If your hung upon it then go with an antique variety at least the genetics are hardy and can take some dicking around with. Having designed landscapes from zone three to 11b I can say that you can grow them outside easily- unless you have a conservtory quality green house stay outside. If outside dig four feet across four feet deep ammend with copious amounts of CURED horse manure in the bottom of the hole mixed with soil then add all the soil back mix in iron no nitrates what so ever and magnesium and micro elements (boron etc) charcoal and potash. water heavily then dig the hole for the rose. make sure the soil is compost rich and fully cured amend if needed and make sure that when planted it is mounded half a foot high when fully watered in with no air pockets. then plant garlic bulbs four around it. you will have an exceptionally healthy rose and little to no insect problems. If you need more info email me I will help you.
good luck.
