I need some freakin' help here . . .

So here it is, I have some rock wool cubes, clonex, hormex and super thrive. Just all the stuff I had access to. I was going to do some cloning tomorrow so I made a solution of 1 gallon of water and 1/4 tsp of super thrive. Threw about a dozen cubes in there and within a few hours the cubes were so wet and bloated that they just fell apart. WTF? The cubes said to only soak for 10 minutes but I have always heard to soak for a couple of hours. I know that i'm probably just being retarded but i need help. and any advice on cloning with the products that i have in much appreciated.

Also, I just use Clonex and have great results. Don't use products if you don't need to.

I'm kind of new here but how did you get the RIU reputation you have without knowing this? Just wondering if the account is hacked.

I think you just answered your own question. The cubes have been soaked for way to long. Only soak long enough to wet it through, no more. You never want the cubes or growing medium wet and soggy. Aim to keep it moist, not wet, and your seeds will be much happier.

I have a dome and heat mat. And that's what I figured. I've just always helped other people or started straight from seed. I've heard numerous people say to soak the cube for hours but maybe they are different cubes.

No, theres a thread somewhere here where peeps go to ask for it.

Edit: I know, its kinda wack.

Re the advice youre looking for.

Select a branch with a new tip growing. Imagine in your mind what the cutting will look like.

Leave behind on the plant a set of leaves, this way the plant will continue to grow new branches after you take a cutting. Have a Razor blade ready. They make a cleaner cut than scissors. Cut at 45degree angle. Dip in clonex. Pour a few drips into the Rockwool cube hole (for luck).

Mist cutting with water.

Under dome with diffuse light.

Keep cube moist by spraying water rather than pouring water.

Goodluck.

Some cube use a glue that needs to be soaked in low ph water to break down the glue. I guess some cubes dont like the 10 minute soak ones you got. You can clone straight into soil tho. I do straight to a solo cup pre watered with a bit of superthrive. Put a baggie on top and let it breathe one a day for a minute. Roots shooting out the bottom in two weeks through the hole I poke for drainage. Just make sure you pack the soil around it and set it deep so the soil doesn't dry out around the stem. I've done without super thrive before too but use it now just to help the little guys intake food right from the get go.

If done with soil I do with a 50/50 mix with perlite. ... Aeration is so important with cloning. Thats why bubblers and aero cloners do so well.

When using rockwool you want to soak them right before you clone. (like 10 minutes before you clone) If you are a soil grower then theres no point in messing with rockwool. Waste of money imo. Water is all you need. Even if its a cup of water, stick it in there and put a zip lock bag around it.

non sense. Just extra effort. Soil by itself gives enough oxygen for it to produce roots. Water the soil before planting and then water with a spray bottle to keep the soil moist 2 times a day and youll see growth.

Do you know how cheap they are? ..... If one has to consider the price of rockwool they probably shouldn't be growing Ganja.

Thats a really dumb thing to say. .... Not all soil is the same. You speak as if it is.

Its not about being rich or poor, a waste is a waste. Thats like telling your kids candy is a waste of money when you buy them a $5 meal and they dont eat it only to ask for candy in an hour. Waste means not necessary, not unacceptable.

I'm sorry i will refine my earlier post. If you are working with say, Arizona dirt, then i advise you to simply take 1% of that dirt and add in 99% of soil. Soil is a combination of basic ingredients*/materials* to sustain the life of plants. Does that mean forever? No. Just simply the basic ingredients to sustain life of plants. We are talking about half a cup of soil for a clone that needs nearly no soil at all to grow roots.

I'm sure your very nice and everything but now youre arguing for the sake of it.

You have nearly 500 posts but only 51 likes. Also your REP is virtually non-existent. .... I won't say anymore about that.

As for your soil argument. Its obvious youve not built your own soil or even considered what it contains. I don't waant you to feel bad but dude are you serious.

Congrats on observing such useless information. You failed to realize that i have 500 post in only 2 years (going on 3) where you have nearly twice as much posts in less than a year. (5 months) Knowledge is knowledge and the fact im arguing is because im trying to help the OP receive correct useful knowledge.

And may i point out that you were the one to argue my post. Im simply defending myself. Thanks and have a good night.

Let me edit this to add your extending argument. Please define soil for me. Then re-read what you just posted and tell me how any of that means any significant value in cloning. Let me explain, clones cant take in any water, nutrients, or air through their stalk without roots. They can only stay moist enough so that roots can grow. They get their nutrients from their leaves, and water from the air around them through their leaves. Thats why people advise you to foliar feed with a dome. Please do more research before arguing such invalid points.

That's why I ask and wondered. Not trying to be rude. Plus, not using rockwool I have also read to soak a long time to correct the pH. No?
