I plan to grow outdoors this spring.I know id get beter results indoors cause indiana isn't a hot spot for chili growing. But I just won't have the money to get another setup going for indoor.I will be growing a hugerian sweet type & poblano type. The seeds are fresh, picked out of peppers. How many months till they are dry enough to germinate? How long should I let them grow indoors?I may get other chili seeds later. What type of soil should I buy or make for best results?Would a 20-20-20 feed be good or to much?I know its going to be awhile before I start growing.I just want to be ready when spring comes. Are chilies difficult to breed? Is it impossible to breed different types(habanaro & poblano)? How can I tell the sex?

I have a small "concrete" permaculture/companion garden that I am currently growing and have thought about adding chilies to it.

I am an organic grower and my plants love everything my MJ loves.

One thing that will be easy to remember is that chillis are related to tomatoes, so the growing methods are similar.

The only difference is that chillies need more heat! I live in a subtropic region so chilies grow year round here.:p

Also, you can grow chillis in pots.

As far as breeding goes, chilies self pollinate. So if you have two different species of chilies in your garden by each other, they will "breed" and you will have a new variety.

I would personally buy a small chili plant instead of grow from seed. They are slow starters. ;)

KuLong speaks the truth. All peppers self-pollinate and can pollinate other pepper plants with their pollen.
