I need some input on my plans

I am using what i would call a bubbler. i took a 10 gal fish tank blacked out the sides so no light could enter from the side then i took some styrofoam and cut it to the exact size of the inside of the fish tank and put some holes in the top for the net baskets i will be using to grown in. after i put the baskets into the styrofoam i will insert it in the fish tank to float on top of the water which will have a air stone to supply the air. My question is what type of medium should i use and how do i fill the basket with the medium and plant. And second what is the best type of nutrients to use?

this is a better way to grow like lettuce not buds.

oh, ok. i found this setup on the internet and they reccomended this set up for bud. do you think it will work though or do i need not to waste my time with it and move on to some thing else??? all help i am thankful for!
