im not sure but ithink i may have crashed and burned so to speak with my first attempt at cloneing. About a week ago i cut the top 4inches off of one of my plants and tried to clone it. I used root tone w/ fungicide in it and put it in a jiffy cube in a jiffy green house, kept it under constent light and it still has its color but the leave look like the are shriveling up and a lifeless look to them. I dont know if i should have found a rooting olution w/o fugicide or if this is just one of those things that happen, but i did just what the bottle said, diagnal cut in water, 2-3 inches in the solution and pressed the soil around it to prvent air pockets. Any input or suggestions for the next time i try would be great. Thanks

i have just been pouring tap water (that has set a day or 2 so all chems can evapoeate) into the green house bottom and letting the pellet absorb the water

What works for me.... I cut stem at angle with clean razor, wash, then dip into rootone, I then place cutting in glass cup with pure pearlite and fill water to top of pearlite, I then place in dome made of 2 litre bottle with bottom cut off, I then put 1-6500 K 23 watt CFL above container, I check water level daily but normally OK, in 5-7 days I have roots.. works everytime for me.

wow thanks ez, i appretiate that, i might have to try that the next time i give it a go.also next time instead cutting the whole top of the plant off i think im gonna try takeing a branch from inbetween the fan leaf and the main stalk, (probly what i should have done in the first place but hey what can i say, im learning alot in this lil adventure). And moog thank you too i will take a look at that faq it might answer some questions before i have to ask them.

thanks all:mrgreen: :joint:

humm weird, I was just about to clone today, but it was pouring out :( So im going to try tomorow, glad that I read this first however. Because I am not sure what method I want to use. EZ hopefully you can get back to me on this thread or via private message but could you explain your method a bit more, iv read all faqs on cloning but they never really go into that much detail. Your way seems a bit easy, and I already have a bag of perlite. I also have jiffy pellets to, as I was going to use this method. Do I need to cut the branch under water? I heard this prevents air bubbles but alot of videos do not show this. Thanks a bunch, and good luck on your next clone new. Bit of advice, says that you should just keep the clones moist, from what I have read. Spray them twice a day, make sure leaves are moist. Not sure if that was problem, just trying to help. Also did you use gel root hormones, or powder? and the plant wasnt budding was it :(? lol

anyways goodluck next time buddy, learn from ur mistakes, but I guess you gotta find out what the mistake was first huh? lol hopefully it was just bad luck

just a lil update. My thought failed process has actually took off nicely. i now have a healthy clone in a jiffy green house ( seems i needed to make sure the cover stayed completely on all day, not just a couple hours a day, so i feel i have learnd my lesson on that) and i also have a clone starting in a plain drinking glass as explained, thanks again ez. And yes it is a good idea to cut at a 45 degree angle under water jack in the box and i am useing roottone powder, a lil hard to work with but if it does the job......

I really need this question answered fast as I have 3 clones, 2 of which are bout to die. Do you need to have a hole in the humidity dome?? I have 2 liter bottom on it, but no cap. I thought you suppose to have a hole so it could breathe. However I saw on one guys posts pictures of his, and he had no holes. just 2 cups one rightside up, and hte other upside down on the other one, so it made a little dome. I need this answered, and home inmportant is a humidity dome? 2 of mine are not in one, should I make them one, and should I have hole at top, or cap the 2liter???

For something easier and 90% root rate, just build an aero cloner. Or cheapo-cloner. Google them for DIY pages. really easy to do.

Hey I was reading about your problem and it reminded me of when I first tried to clone. I remembered that I could not ever find much with enough detail on the internet but I did learn a lot from watching videos on the matter in UTube. Good Luck. and keep trying it just takes a little trial and error but it is soo cool to finally see those beautiful white roots emerge.
