the OP contradicted himself saying it was rather easy and then saying its not. you cant make a living off a couple pounds a month anyways if you calculate in your expenses. i agree with racerboy. there is a big difference between making a few extra bucks and being able to pay your light bill, nutes, rent, ect, from just growing. and with so many people doing it.. you have to be as good or better than the competition if you want to make anything extra. there are few people getting "rich" off of it IMO

I was losing my head. I just really love taking care of these plants. I never thought "gardening" would be so fun. Being so intent on these plants, watching them grow node by node... It has totally changed the way I look at all vegetation, like I can see the structure in plants now. Hard to explain, but I didn't even see it before.

But, I would try this out, on a small scale, efficient lights, quality strains etc, but the quasi-legality, I just cannot deal with.

well it is easy once you're established and its just plug and play and sell.

its hard to just say ok im gonna do this and start from nothing and learning as you go and rolling the dice. so many people try and either they do ignorant things like stealing electricity. telling too many ppl about their grows...getting robbed when they finally sell it etc.

in the purest form it sounds simple (grow plants. wait till weed comes. cut it down. sell it for $$$) but when you break it down and have several lights, and a/c, fans, learning about nutes and what to use and what strains grow which ways and learning whats your most valuable strains to sell, how to sell without getting robbed/arrested etc.

its not easy thats why people burn down their grow spots or get raided etc.

it takes a big commitment and a LOAD of money/time.

many just assume you just "toss some seeds in the dirt" and sell bud like its selling bottled water.

I know friends who tried things like that. ended up in jail and one guy got his own immediate family member murdered during a home invasion (he talked too much and someone found out etc). the mj business is much different from the mj lifestyle. there may be this "hippie" stereotype stoners have but those in the business (some growers and many middle men and robbers/jackers) can be much different and much more ruthless/violent.

So its easy if your in my position (growing for half a decade and already went through all the rookie mistakes etc) but to someone who just smokes a lot and grown maybe a couple plants for themselves may not be ready for it from a business standpoint.

There it is for me. Lawlessness on both sides. Forget about it. I don't even want to know what the etc. is.

Grow a couple of plants, turn them into sleeping pills for myself, and call it a day.
lol thats what i mean. its easy....once youre established and assuming your customer base is "safe". the best way to stay safe in that line of work (in my opinion) is to deal strictly with friends and by friends i dont mean acquaintances...i mean actual friends you've known a long time who you dont have to meet @ a gas station @ 2am to deal 2 them.

if one had a circle of say even just 15-20 friends who smoke on a regular basis (who have jobs) then one could easily live just off those sales and avoid police/robbery. however most dont have that many friends who smoke bud. i know i dont but its a safer bet than trying to sell 2 random strangers. thats when the police and robberies come into play. if they are your friends you can easily go to their houses and hang for awhile when you make the sale or visca versa (assuming your house isnt your grow house)

remember...even if they are your friends its still best not to say you grow and whatnot.

and yes right now (look @ my 150w grow link for reference) im only growing enough for myself and gf.

growing for profit would honestly be a DREAM for me but im realistic and know right now given my resources i couldn't do it and it sucks honestly because any friends ive shared my bud with all wonder what club i got my bud from because its so good...so i know theres a market for it as ive only heard praise about it.

ahh...to daydream. lol

and then they found out i could grow...
i worked there a few years...3 i think. trimming was a bitch though especially because they never had spring loaded scissors! i used the regular scissors you'd have laying around the house!
This was a collective? Something here does not compute.
He was already growing and didn't have his own pair of scissors? in 3 years time, trimming scissors were never purchased? they are less than $20...

When did you work for this collective? The videos you posted on youtube dating back to nov 2010 and you were only using 2 600w. now you are only using a 150 watt.

(Quote from youtube reply: by the way the final yield was less than an ounce under a lb from those 6 plants under 2 600w light).

So why did you leave out all the club grows in your "5 year growing career" video? From all the pictures and videos you posted, it would be a cold day in hell before I let you in my room. Maybe you should post some pictures of larger grows and or nicer plants if you really want work.

there were no video cameras, picture cameras, etc. allowed inside the collectives grow property so i never did take any pictures.

even if i did i likely wouldnt post them online. the pics/videos i have posted are grows ive done on my own in my spare time some of which was while i was working at the collective but none of the grows pictured took place @ the collective.

This thread proves why it's best to cultivate your own help. I've never come across anyone that grows that doesn't own at least several pairs of Fiskars Softouch Micro-tip, or clones thereof.

what can i say? i learned on a regular pair of scissors and (honestly) ive never used spring loaded scissors. my buds come out just as good as those using spring-loaded scissors and ive never ever ever had a complaint about how the buds were trimmed.

Sooo... because you learned with crap scissors you never switched? When I was a kid my parents had me use a table/butter knife to eat my steaks, I switched to a steak knife because that's what they are meant for and do a much faster/better job of cutting it. I also learned how to race in a stock 110hp subaru impreza, since I learned in that car, I guess I should have stayed in that car and never moved up to an Impreza STI (300hp). I never had any complaints about the butter knife cutting my steak, it did the job just not as well. I never had any complaints about my factory 110 hp impreza, It still did the job. Just not near as well or near as fast! Shit If I were you, I would be concerned about carpal tunnel and wrist/finger problems/pains from using those scissors, not just the fact they are inefficient. Come on man 5-15 dollars TOPS!

im not in a car race though and the end product doesnt suffer so why should it bother anyone else what i use?

ive had nothing but compliments on my trim-jobs so im not really interested in fixing what isnt broken. it takes longer but by taking longer it also ensures i do the job right.

& its not a $$$ issue...i just never bothered to get spring-loaded scissors. never crossed my mind 2 be honest.

Some people take it personally when you don't do things their way or take their advice.

I use surgical scissors and have never had a problem. I also do a very fine trim. Some day I'll try some fancy schmancy scissors, but till then what I use works well enough for me.

i dont think it matters what scissors you use as long as they are nice and sharp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjQqodrUBgg istor swiss sharpener! make sure not to sharpen where the scissors contact eachother, only the angled edge should be sharpened. Make use of your old scissors! I have a pair of knock off fiskars with no spring and they have big handles and small blades and i like using them a lot more than my spring loaded ones

Just how much do you trim at a time? I'm betting you don't trim multiple pounds at a time with those surgical scissors. Sure they might work just fine trimming up a QP but if you are seriously trimming they just don't cut it (pun intended). Especially if you are growing for a collective, trimming pounds after pounds with those scissors is just ridiculous.
